  • More classical DPmod

I've always appreciated LordHavok's work, but DPmod was too much different than Quake, so I've edited progs of DPmod couple days ago to make it more classical.

    Changes list:
    -bouncing grenades
-using lightning gun under water can kill you
    -weapons are in the center
    -health won't regenerate
    -original shell and rocket ammoboxes
    -plasma gun removed

    Download: progs.dat

    Old one: progs.dat

    Paste it in DPmod folder

    Enjoy

    Hello My-Key,

you know, there have been always questions from many people,
how to extract this or that feature from dpmod...

Now with your effort and help all those people will get their answer.

I dont know why you want to place your progs.dat in the dpmod folder though.
All you need is some of the progs folder content from dpmod,
copy it to your id1 progs folder and you dont need dpmod anymore.
These files are: casing models, fire sprites (+ depending which feature you exported else).
I just tried it and it worked so far (progs dat in id1 pak).
So there is no need to use the shortcut "-game dpmod" anymore.

I know some people might say now:
never change your id1 progs.dat, but I never had problems (doing it for 3 years now).

    Just a notice/idea from me.

Thank you very much for your work My-Key.

A complete list of which feature you exported would be nice.

Seven: If you like odd solutions, you could also just have a bunch of folders for each mod in your quake folder, and rename any one to "id1" when you want to use it...

Most people don't bother with this or your idea, since it's easy to combine or write over parts of mods if you don't do things correctly.

If you really hate doing -game, you can also get a quake client that has an in-console "game" (or was it "gamedir"?) command, which would change the mod folder used.
