The first or last one would be the best choice, if you angle it right you got the crescent of the Quake logo, so then you could simply edit it slightly to become a full Quake logo

Yes it is the same eclipse but shot at a different time.
Quake had the theme before Heroes was ever thought of though.
The eclipse from last year in India is a better one.
I am looking for hires ones of that.
This one is from indonesia 2009 National geographic I think.

Thanks ooppee & grave_digga for the help, it was the png issue, all is working well now, learned something new today about tga and png in DP

Do you have any pk3's in either of their folders? Ensure none have a conback in them.
I have also noticed PNG's are executed after tga's. So if any conback.png's exist they will take over the tga.

With which parameters did you start the game? darkplaces.exe -hipnotic ?

Should go like this:

\QUAKE\hipnotic\gfx\Conback.tga

or

\QUAKE\rogue\gfx\Conback.tga
