    Hi splitterface,
Great job so far! I appreciate the time and effort of all the variety of combinations you gave!!

      thanx, and yw

i thought it would be nice to give people lot of options, since some dont like every effect, and thus i made a lot of options so people can pick which effect they do and which they dont want

right now ill be starting on adding effects to R1M1, ill post them tomorrow when im done with them
      .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?

just finished R1M1 a bit ago. this time i didnt add blood-rain since imo it only fits start map, but i did add bubbles to all the acid-pools in the map

        DOWNLOAD ENT FILES FOR R1M1

again just like last time i included different ent files with options so you can choose which effects you want and which not

NOTE: be aware though that the acid bubbles effect is real heavy on performance since the acid-pools are so big and thus a huge amount of bubbles are visible at once, and this will eat quite a big chunk out of your fps.

anyways, hope you all like it. if you find any bugs, leaks, places i forgot or parts for improvement id of course love to hear

          hey all,

just did R1M2 too just a bit ago.
once more added a ton of options to choose from: rain, blood-rain, fog, red fog, rising cynders and lava-steam, including every possible combination of those effects

once again i hope you all like these, and of course please do tell me if you find any leaks or bugs or points that could use improvement

                Hello splitterface,

To be honest I can hardly see something on your screenshots from yesterday.
Only the 'lava steam screen' shows clear lava steam. On the other ones, the particles are hardly visable.

But that is no problem. Just wanted to mention it.

                One tip regarding lava steam/haze:
Quake maps are sometimes full of lava-pool traps (like E4M5 for example).
When you walk on an area, the floor opens and lava greets you
To not spoil these areas you must spawn the effect beneath the floor texture, but above the lava texture.
                That needs an accurate z-coordinated.
The lava haze effect has the necessary 'bounce' setting for that.

                Thank you for your efforts.

yeah i know, but the rain is very obviously there in-game

and yes i was worried about that, about using the effect at for example that first pool in R1M5. but its good to know that i can still use the effect tere without that the particles will come up through the floor when its closed cuz that the effect uses bounce

It is nice that you all take the time to make sure the rain only falls exactly from the holes/windows but roofs leak in old castles
So dont sweat the small shit.

                      hey all,

have been sorta busy on and off, and here's a sorta completed R1M3, with lava-haze, cynders and fog.

for now only one option and im not entirely happy with it, but i have to experiment a bit with the effectblocks, cuz i also wish to add haze to the real narrow gaps but this proves to be reather problematic cuz of particles ending coming through the platforms

ill have to experiment a bit with the effects to see how i can do these small gaps without particles coming through the platforms

                        Try changing your "bounce" param.
A param of "1" might not work.
                        Try "-1" instead.
It will 'eat' all particles that touch a brush, so you can more freely set your cube over the diagonal gaps.

... just a guess. Hope it works.

okies thanx seven. was about to go ask you for help on it, but seems you already got the hint that i could use some help

ill try that, using -1 bounce and see if it works or not

tried it earlier, using the -1 bounce, and it worked perfectly, thats exactly what i needed and was hoping was possible, that every particles which hit a brush would instantly be gone to avoid leaking through

it allow me to do the smaller gaps without any problems at all

thanx a ton seven, for that tip

later ill try and add rising cynders too in the spot which i didnt do yet, and after that its done
                            .

                              Hello splitterface,

I think it is best to implement the lava-eruptions too, when you are now already working on ROGUE maps. Then you do not have to later go through them all again...

That is why I made an Update for ROGUE´s "small mod compilation":
                              DOWNLOAD

It adds the lava-eruptions support for ROGUE.
I also included the map R1M5 with lava-eruptions for you to have some samples.
This map has (as you know) a floor, that covers the first lava pool after pushing a button. The lava-eruptions will then stop in that area automagically.

Just place the .pk3 file into your Rogue folder.
And dont use an external effectinfo.txt in Rogue.

Here is a detailed explanation for you regarding the new params/floats:
                              Code:
                              {
                              "classname" "info_notnull"
                              "Xsmall" "80"
                              "Ysmall" "-180"
                              "Xbig" "750"
                              "Ybig" "310"
                              "Zheight" "-30"
                              "nextthink" "0.1"
                              "think" "lava_think"
                              "count" "0.5"
                              "variation" "5"
                              }

.float Xsmall; // for lava pool corner with smallest X-coordinate (negative values are smaller than positive)
.float Ysmall; // for lava pool corner with smallest Y-coordinate (negative values are smaller than positive)
.float Xbig; // for lava pool corner with biggest X-coordinate (negative values are smaller than positive)
.float Ybig; // for lava pool corner with biggest Y-coordinate (negative values are smaller than positive)
.float Zheight; // for z-coordinate of lava pool
.float count; // for minimum time gap between eruptions (in additional a random value is automatically added: random()*3 )
.float variation; // sets which eruption variations to use: "1"=small eruption only "2"=medium eruption only
// "3"=large eruption only "4"=random small or medium eruption "5"=all 3 eruptions randomly

Adding lava-eruptions is much easier/qicker than adding weather cubes.

                              Have fun.
                              Seven

and sure, of course ill make a mediafire mirror, downloading the fixed ID1 smc now,
and will upload it after that and post the link in SMC thread
