here is what you asked for roy, for additional slipgate fog added to the portals of rogue start map
and of course for everyone else who wants it
and another update to the help file for adding effects, noticed i had made a mistake, i didnt see both upper and lower fog used the same effect-name.

Splitterface: thanks for the example file. Also, I meant the fog AND the stars, if that is possible.
Seven: Thanks again, I guess I missed it.

thanx seven, glad you like them
and yeah sure, ill make another ent with that slipgate fog effect instead
knew people would start asking about it, lol.
personally im not to much of a fan of it, and like the rising stars a lot more. but sure ill make an ent file with that effect instead of the rising stars roy
and yes i checked how to make the effects in those examples seven provided with the smc
attached a text file i made which you might find very usefull. it contains example blocks of every effect, and short explanations of each line and such
made it myself as a quick way to add effects. its an easy way to add effects, cuz all you have to do is just find the block for which effect you wanna add, and copy and paste it over into the ent and change numbersAttached Files

Hello Roy Batty,
The tutorial already exists: click
Regarding the 2 different slipgate effects:
Look into the .ent examples in the "small mod compilation" inside the subfolder:
custom particle+sound effects
You will see the "stars" and "fog" versions in E1M1īs exit-slipgate.
Knowing that you are also very familiar with .ent file modifications, you will see how it works. I documented both alternatives in the effectinfo.txt file.
@ splitterface
Your screenshots lok fantastic !
Keep up the good work.
Seven

possible to add some smoke/fog to the slip gates like Seven did once too?
also you should make a kind of tutorial for this, I would really dig that, and maybe start to do some editing myself (not these maps tho).

hey all,
just a bit ago i sorta finished R1M4. the end is not perfect, but i already used 7effectinfo entries for there. another time ill go back to it, but as for now i call it done. when i have the rest of the maps done ill return to fiddling more with the haze for end of this map
DOWNLOAD EFFECTS FOR R1M4
again like usual with all possible combinations of effects
and while playing a bit i suddenly noticed i completely forgot to add bubbles to the slime-pool of medium entrance of start-map
so i added this missing effect.
and while i was working on start-map i suddenly remembered an effect seven had added once to slipgates which i totally love but had completely forgotten about, rising stars.
so while i was on it i added this effect to start-map too
DOWNLOAD ADDITIONAL BUBBLES & SLIPGATE STARS FOR ROGUE START-MAP
sorry all, but this is just a single ent and a single effectinfo.
these extra effects make for a ton of extra possible combinations, and the list of possible combinations would get to huge
EDIT: oh and of course i added lava-bursts too to startmapLast edited by talisa; 09-14-2012, 05:20 AM.

yeah, the versions with haze do eat some fps, but hey its a real fancy looking effect, so in big areas of lava its of course naturally for it to eat some fps. but it looks totally sweet
and of course im including diff versions, i know not everybody likes all those effects so since i started on rogue i always include lots of versions
and oh no no, of course not, i wouldnt just quit. when i start something i finish it, i dont do half work
