I know you have all probably heard of the Large Hadron Collider or LHC... what you probably haven't heard, is that its teetering on being obsolete now...spefically the word LARGE.
This small device could rival the power of SLAC’s 2-mile long linear accelerator in just 100 feet, according to a press release. This experiment proved that the small silica-glass accelerator could propel particles more efficiently than its predecessor.
It’s also much, much smaller—it’s an accelerator on a millimeter-sized chip. Their research was published in Nature last week.
SURE, its only "halfway there" in terms of utilizing such a smaller particle accelerator and get some actual science done in the process, but still yet. Shrinking a 2 Mile linear accelerator down to 100FT, WOAH. Thats fn insane. Go Go Gadget Awesome!
