No need to use steam. Just go to www.quakelive.come and setup an account and it will download it for you. Its browser based.

Every time I load it up I dont see many servers up and the ones that are always require me to download extra mods or are empty. I also cant get the game to brighten anymore then it is so the game play is dark.

Seriously? You're saying that the game-play is dark? How do you adjust your settings? Maybe I can find a solution for you... On a side-note, I always thought that Quake Live should have been an add-on for Quake 3 Arena. In my simple opinion, that would have been logical (and it would have saved idsoftware some money).

Yes its dark and i changed the brightness to high and it barely changed the lighting. Ive researched other commands and used some fullbright command and gamma, contrast and its not changing. Not sure whats up. However my laptop recently updated to 8.1 thanks to my wife for hitting the install buttom instead of the remind me later button so all my games are running in fullscreen but a small window. I cant figure out that issue either and you cant revert back from windows 8.1 to windows 8.... quake, q2, q3, urban terror, tf2, cstrike and qlive are all messed up resolution wise. According to windows its something to do with DPI settings which ive messed with and still cant fix the issue.

Hah! I downloaded Quake Live on steam recently and played maybe a half hour. I started and got 2 rail gun frags, but then I was doing pretty terrible and everyone was trying to boot me. I'm glad you were rocking it though!
