Like the mid 2000s when the Quake and Doom community were still a bit active and there were still mods, maps being made and people were still playing? Those were good times, now we're only stuck with Quake Live.

I havent touched quakelive since they put it on steam and ask for $9.99 for it. Not being a cheap ass but why pay foe a game that has been free this entire time and all i played was CA on QL and never paid a cent.

I don't now if this is the best era for quake, but it seems that there are some great mapping tools for it ATN. Kinda makes me sad that I didn't get into quake sooner, but I couldn't have gotten into it REALLY early on. This game's older than I am for heavens sake! XD I think quake will always sorta be around. I have the next game in the series is a straight remake of the original, then THAT would be the best era of quake.

r00k was beyond instrumental in getting those files though, thats a fact.
I couldn't begin to tell you what steps I took to end up with those things, but I do recall using noesis to convert something to something at one point.

I just uninstalled unreal editor, and I never bothered with posting about it on the unreal forums for fear of "being that guy" who mentions Quake in an Unreal zone.

Could just be me, but knowing the fervent discussions/arugments/opinions about what was better, Unreal or Quake, might still linger. That and/or some other type of dramatics that could occur.

The good old days for me was when I finally got a PC that could run the game. I couldn't believe a world could be so real. The full 3D just made the world so tangible... If I'm honest, I still haven't gotten over that!
