  • David Bowie RIP 1947-2016

Here am I floating 'round my tin can
    Far above the Moon
    Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do

First Lemmy, now Bowie. This is not starting 2016 off in a good way.

Heard the news when I was having dinner with friends. I tried to hide it but I could feel my tone change. I called it a night and came home. When I walked in the door, I saw that I'd left the album sitting right there on the coffee table.

                I tried, but goddamn,
I sat down on the couch.
                pressed play
and cried until my face hurt.

I don't like to get into my personal life or appearance, but maybe a few of you recall seeing photos of me. I've never had much luck being able to hide being strange, but Bowie was the first person I ever saw who legitimized the surreal. Not only that, but did one more and made it okay. If it weren't for him, I'm pretty sure I would have wasted many years failing to emulate normalcy instead of working up the guts to try and entertain people with the strange.

                Helluva show, helluva show.
