Yeah, if you go through FreedomPop it's a good idea to make sure you're actually on their 100% free plan. They try to get you to sign up for premium services (a couple bucks here and there for this and that) and whatnot.

Just a heads up if anybody else tries to do what I did.

The call went something like this

    :getting info blah blah blah:
    >I was sickeningly sweet as pie for this

"What can I help you with?"

"I have an AT&T netgear and your site says it is experiencing trouble and I should call you to activate it"

    "Is this a phone?"

"No, it is a mobile hotspot?"

"I'm sorry sir, we are not supporting hotspots at this time."

"Yes you are . I'm on the page right now. It says Bring Your Own Device, there is a selection for hotspot and it asks for the numbers."

"I see, well we are not doing that right now."

"I understand what you are saying but, your website says you are. That is very misleading."

"I will check just, for you."

"You are so sweet. Thank you"

    ::gives numbers::

"It seems we can support your hotspot."

    "Imagine that "

"All we need is your credit or debit card numbers"

    "I see. why? It's free."

"If you go over your 500mb we have to have a way to charge you."

"I have to manage my connection usage?"

    "yes."

    "OK." ::gives numbers::

That's pretty much it. Point being, they are supporting "your" device you just need to be pushy. I was barfaliciously nice and polite. I even smiled the entire time I talked cause you can actually hear that.

Oh! Be prepared for them to try an sell you a bunch of shit you don't want. I left out a chunk where she was trying to sell me a data stick for 9$ and some phone for 49$. I just kept rerailing back to "you need to activate my hotspot like the entire reason I called entails."...but much more nicely put.

Cool! I don't know what Imma use 500mb of internet for but, it's free!

I go through freedompop. They have a basic no-frills plan that's actually $0/month. That's what I use. I bought a refurb S4 from them, and bingo, no more phone bill. 500MB/month, but that suits me just fine. I'm not a big phone user.

@IF you do not know what you are doing but "work" you are a "scripter" not a programmer.

That's a good way to put it. I like that.

@ I get the impression that current pop music has so many layers of recording and so much post-production that there is only an inert skein of sound waves

I can't argue with you there. Beyonce does have a very powerful voice though. My voice isn't too shabby but, I think I'm going to have to chalk up Beyonce as out of my range. I can hit the lower version of her notes but, not with as much "authority". I can hit the exact version of her notes (same pitch) but only in falsetto. My falsetto is also not as strong as her natural notes. I just wanted to see if I could do it, and I can't, at least not strongly, anyway.

It's kind of a bummer cause I wanted to go to open mic night on wednesday and fuck people's minds up with a powerful rendition of Beyonces Halo coming out of the mouth of someone that looks like a skinhead. That's not gonna happen, though. It's a shame cause I can more or less nail this song except for the chorus. The guitar is easy as pie. It's just A, Bm, F#m, D (1,2,6,4 progression) over and over. If you want to get fancy, lose the strum and "arpeggiate" it.

I had to google beyonce. It's not the kind of music I like. I get the impression that current pop music has so many layers of recording and so much post-production that there is only an inert skein of sound waves. That kind of pop upset my nerves. Not to mention to current electronic music.

when you think you know how to program cause you asked a lot of questions on stackoverflow and got answers that "worked".
I consider that in order for someone to be considered a programmer, he must to know how works what he is doing. From the lowest level to the level you are writing stuff.
IF you do not know what you are doing but "work" you are a "scripter" not a programmer.

Under these terms there are very few programmers of qc, Spike, Frika, and few more people more...

Basically I use my phone internet for everything. I was even playing quake on it hotspot styles. I'm on it right now to type this post (hotspot). With 23 gigs I could watch about 23 movies if they are 486p. I have cable though so, it's kinda dumb to watch movies on my phone or hotspot them on my computer. I could turn pandora on today and never ever turn it off ever again...lol? Internet is internet. Granted 4GLTE isn't blazing fast but, I've never really had any problems with movies, music or games streaming smooth. Really, the only thing that sucks about 4glte is people still don't know how to properly make a mobile site. Suuure, it has a mobile menu and fits on a small screen but what about all the dom hits for CSS imports/rewrites and stupid mother fuckers that think the JS write API is a smart way to get shit on the page... among other things that are not really considered when building a mobile site. If I sat down and built a mobile site that shit would be instan-fuckin-taneous. My education doesn't begin and end with @media...lol.

    >>I saw some shit the other day where somebody was using JS write to write a script tag to include jquery if it didn't already exist.....what!? Dude, where do people come up with this shit? That's what happens when you think you know how to program cause you asked a lot of questions on stackoverflow and got answers that "worked".

"Oh you need a DIV on the page? Well first you gotta encrypt it with sha-256 and store it on the cloud, then you need an ajax request and a flip on the 256 encryp, use a JS write and 75 CSS imports so it will cripple everything and give the ajax time to work (o.O). Don't forget to add 6 mouse events and a page reload...IT"LL WORK!!!" LOL! - don't just put a div on the page. That's too easy and makes too much sense.

Hello madgipsy, my general question is: what is the main use of mobile internet?
    Facebook (social networks) ?

    spotify?
    video games online?

    netflix using 4g?

from this list i only consume netflix (very occasionally, maybe a movie or two per month, really)
Although I am an internet user and I think it is very necessary, I think that we have gradually become too dependent. I'm not against the pc, but I like to go to the street and feel that I'm "disconnected"

started a topic Phone Plans 2

    Phone Plans 2

A while back I gave a heads up to various phone plan stuff (even how to steal phone lol). Well, I'm back to tell you my latest find.

Boost had me on Boost Select. This meant I got 7.5 gigs a month and I could pay my bill 2 weeks late. That was $60.

Now my plan is $50 and I have up to 23 gigs of data with 8 gigs of that on hotspot. I have to pay my bill on time though (never an issue). I could drop the cost $5 by enrolling in auto-reboost (naaah, I'm good on that one) and save another $5 by taking surveys (I'm thinking NO on this one too)

However, that's the current deal. If you want to lock in your credit card and take a few surveys you can get 23 gigs of data with 8 on a hotspot for $40 a month. All 4G LTE (if your phone supports that, mine does). The $5 for auto-reboost doesn't kick in til the second month.

*woops - fine print - basically the $5 discount for an auto-reboost kicks in as soon as boost taps your bank for that months funds so, it's only the second month for new customers. If I enrolled in that shit right now, I'd get the discount on the 20th when my phone month flips.

Also, you actually get more than 23 gigs but if you are over 23 gigs for the month and the sprint network starts getting congested in your area they basically say "fuck you" and limit your phone til the network clears up.

23 gigs is a whole lot of gigs. I use the hell out my phone internet and I've NEVER used 23 gigs. About 11 gigs seems to be my monthly usage.
