Not necessarily - I've been programming computers for years and I hardly know anything about the latest hardware technology. As long as you've got a computer than can play q1, who cares about anything else?

I'll explain for you.
RAM is Random Access Memory, the long "stick" cards that plug into your motherboard. RAM are just cards with chips on them that hold importand data needed by programs. Anytime you load a program, important data that needs fast access is loaded into ram so that the progam can have quick access to it. Any game you play a game, any video you watch, any music you play, any time your computer is even on, you've got important data loaded into your ram, ready for fast access.

DDR ram, which means Double Data Rate, is a faster type of RAM. The fastest they have avalabile for RAM is DDR2.

Now Monster is getting DDR3 from his video card. It has GDDR3 which means Graphics Double Data Rate 3. Video ram is faster than system ram. You can buy video cards with anything from GDDR to GDDR4... Mine is GDDR3. Only the newest video cards (Nvidia Geforce 8800 springs to mind) have GDDR4.

Ok Paradise thanks, I hate spending $$$ when all I have to run on is hype because it usually turns out being another first person shooter with nothing to enhance on.

Crouching is ok I guess but I come from the days of Doom1, Doom2 and Doom3, Quake1, Comander Keen etc, I definitly didnt need flashy graphics to enjoy those games or realistic physics because the gameplay fun factor was there. In doom the only semi realistic thing was the shotgun sound but it was so fun because it created a sense of danger, latly these FPS coming out claiming to call them selfs "Quake Killers" are actually duds that can't even get the aiming right.

So anyway

Try it out, lemme know, I might give it a shot!
