Sounds good, surprisingly I think I only ever actually played runequake once or twice, I will definitely have to load up and get fragging some time. It's cool to hear that engines are still being worked on.

    Hi OMK
I hope all is well. From what i can see people haven't really changed their style of play very much while you've been away but single player maps are quite popular at the moment (check out Arcane dimensions and the various map jams) and there are a few new engines on the scene (e.g. Mark V, QuakeSpasm Spiked etc). Of course multiplayer RuneQuake is still being played over at quake.shmack.net, and the QRF servers are still up over in europe.
    I hope this helps

    Kind regards
    Monty

Howdy gamers, how has everybody been these past ??? years (was I last here 10 years ago? maybe).

I recently got back into quake through a new PC and the remasters, how are people playing these days and are there any notable significant changes to how people play?

Hey, likewise (feeling like the person above here)
Quake multi-player, mods and maps.. that's where the good ole fashioned gaming it's at
Quake is life .. or life is Quake? Whichever way you ask the question, it points to the same answer hehe

P.S. I was curious what happened to Solecord or Sole? Who is running this site now? I haven't even seen Sole playing on Shmack at all.. which is odd as he used to play regularly. And it's just odd for someone to quit Quake and this site all of a sudden like that. Is everything ok over there?

    Hey all!
I just logged back in after several years to see who's still around. Nice to see some familiar faces. I have found myself messing around with some QC and playing some new mods and maps recently. This game never dies for me. Admittedly, the official remaster that released a couple years ago got me back in the spirit. Hope to see some more faces soon. Definitely a lot of fond memories here and I'm glad to see it still alive.

Hey Mr. Burns, thanks for your response, I have played at shmack a few times this week since I had time, I ran into EzJack and US Divers last night. I really don't get on to play much but when I do it's like 30 minutes to an hour. There is a new MOD out, not sure how long it has been out, but it has TDM,CAX,CTF,King of The Hill, Airshot, FFA and more inside this one MOD where it's just a command and vote to switch it without changing servers, I was surprised when I came back on after almost 3 year's of not playing to see this. You can connect to that MOD from any quake client including QuakeWorld clients. Due to this change there is a new wave of quake players I have never heard of until now who are from QuakeWorld joining the games with Net Quake players, It is interesting and I have played a few game's on those server's as well.

You should join the discord, I have been on it since like 2016, It is a lot easier to communicate with others.

    Have a great day!

Hi Burnsie! so glad to see you are still keeping the Q1 faith. I hop onto runequake once or twice a year. And last night I played FVF with Gunter. Such a great mod. I highly recommend Future Versus Fantasy to anyone who is intrigued by the idea of some cooperative play that has been super spiced up

    Hi WL,
You're still alive!! I feared you might be gone for good so welcome back.
I suspect a number of Quakers have drifted over to Discord but there is still a thriving mapping and single player community over on Quaddicted and Func, as well as a number of regular players (Killa, Sara, EZJack, OG, etc) still hanging in there over on quake.shmack.net port 26000.
I hope that helps but take care of yourself out there on the highways

    Kind regards
    Monty
