  • What Antivirus are you using?

Currently using the Comodo Antivirus. Fairly pleased with it. Anyone else have any experiences with this AV?

That's niceHaving your own personal AV and the skill to create it is a plus. However there are only about 10 or so known viruses for Linux as a whole aren't there? . Because I know if Linux is ever considered mainstream the virus' will be looking for shit like AV's to shut off. Maybe they are now already. They just don't know who you are.

Like on Windows PC. my brother in laws PC is so infected I downloaded Ad-aware2007 to install and one of those spyware/adware programs deleted it before I could install it. It's all out war.

You shouldn't really talk about linux vs windows security unless you REALLY know what you're talking about. Linux can have just as many exploits as windows. Linux is not exploitproof.

btw my scripts run on my windows machine.

I'm assuming you're talking about ClamWin right? I found that to be to most useless anti-virus ever. Plus it's really slow compared to other anti-virus software. I tested it a year ago and it only caught 6/10 of my nasty test files.

Regardless, it has managed to keep my system clean for well over a year now. But I guess thats because I don't go on crack/serial, hardcore pornography, or any other sites where viruses lurk.

You said you tested it a year ago, so I'm sure by now is has updated to better detect bad files.

True but only actual evidence of testing would make that certain. But ya your system is most likely clean because you don't download omgporninstallthisnow.exe

That's more of a ad-ware/malware thing but I guess there isn't much difference these days trojans/worm/viruses/malware/adware.

My whole setup is Comodo Antivirus, Sygate Personal Firewall, Ad-Aware 6, Spybot Search and Destroy without TeaTimer. Spywareblaster( though I dont use IE anymore except when I absolutely have to )

Never used Teatimer. How well does that work Mindz?

no system changes can be made without approval (registry entries specifically, and others, like changes to your IE) and you can tell it to "remember this decision" as well, making life much easier if you only install certain apps when you need them. We've only got 1x40gb and 1x20gb HD,so space being limited,I dont keep large apps installed all the time, like Photoshop.

AVG isnt for ad/mal/spy etc, its for the trojans and virii I might stumble across on the net while surfing.Although sometimes its annoying because it denies me access to my keygens !!zomg's,its a trojan!! not quite heh.

Grisoft (AVG authors) have a spyware application that I tried and didnt like. I've used 2 apps to handle the baddies on the internet and have never had any problems. I enjoy free things on the net.

I recomend Heroes,Smallville,Dexter, and The Dresden Files.

i've never known avg to pointlessly prevent access to safe files. since keygens are of course always warez, i would bet they do actually have something bad in them, even if running them once doesn't immediately make your pc explode
