As for larning Portuguese or Spanish, I have no interest. I don't need to know anything other than English. That's what people in America speak, and I have no intentions of moving out of America. I used to want to go to Canada (where thay also speak English), but I realize now that I have no real reason to, and would be quite foolish because of the distance away from the rest of my family.

I know what's going through your head now... lazy American. Yes, I happen to be lazy, but I also see no reason in occupying myself with learning another language that I will never use. I would rather fill the time up with something remotely USEFUL, like learning how to work with metals (which I have set-up next semester, close to two weeks away), or a study hall. Even sleeping in study hall is more beneficial to me than learning Spanish.

It depends on what the job is. If it's nothing that may require speaking a different language, I would most likely be hired, because when you DO need to speak to someone, your Portuguese accent will get in the way of whatever you are trying to say in English.

I wouldn't be applying for a job that may require me to speak a foreign language anyway. Obvoiusly I am lacking in that department, and I don't plan on improving it. It's just not nescessary.

You do realize in every other country in the world beside this one the average citizen knows *at least* 2 languages?
