Rook you should definitely splurge on an 8800gt. Especially if you were going to get a 256 mb 8600 gt. That will definitely disappoint on modern games. The 8800 gt probably is the best performance\price ratio for graphics cards at the moment. And yeah your existing 500 watt power supply should be enough unless you plan on getting a second card for sli in which case you'd definitely need to upgrade.
