I hear ya!Originally posted by Lerster View Posttrue enough, i just thought it was neat b/c i never seen a site like that b4. ^_^
an i was silly and actually browsed the net today. Looking for (hopeful) online positions doing shit, to make a lil' extra monies off side my normal office job.
The "new economy" is an interesting thing.
Anyway that site looks doubly abusive:
"Studio helps clients specify the goals, requirements and scope of the design project. The competition is posted and Studio members submit their designs. The client then evaluates the submissions and chooses a winner (or multiple winners). The design is transferred to the client and the winners receive prizes and placement points for ongoing tournaments."
Oh wow! So you do a lot of work for free for a competition where incompetent bureaucracies waste time and then maybe eventually make a decision.
Maybe some guy in India will volunteer to do that

Sounds like people will be working with flash, php, ruby on rails, javascript, and other horrid 'web 2.0' technologies.Clients engage the Studio community for design work ranging from icon creation to full application user interface design. In addition to logos, banners, print, apparel and other more traditional design work, members compete in Flash, widget design, Flex 3, HTML/CSS, Javascript and other development competitions. This allows Studio to take your project from the drawing board to production.

Eh? The world works like this ...Originally posted by Lerster View PostApparently, coders can make money by solving problems and designing stuff in realtime on that site.
Idiot corporations and governments have bad ideas. And the world is filled with unqualified wannabees who think they are knowing what they are doing, but don't.
Which of the above would you like to work for?
Sites like that are generally for companies too cheap to hire employees or want someone in India to do something unreasonable for little pay.
Or for small businesses that are technically illiterate and the people that run the place somehow don't know any qualified people to do that kind of thing for them or scared them all away with their incompetence.
Maybe I'm stereotyping but my guess is that there is a reason why they have to turn to the internet for help instead of doing what is known to be successful in this world and finding a reliable long-term supplier.
In a world of incompetence, not everyone deserves to be helped with their goals.

Just something interesting i stumbled upon while, browsing some information on the web.
TopCoder Studio | How it Works
Apparently, coders can make money by solving problems and designing stuff in realtime on that site.
I thought that was pretty neat. I can't likely make shit on there because i donno any recent languages.
But, regardless that's still pretty kickass.
Baker/rook, and etc may find it intriguing to try (between their actual jobs)
if their not busy coding stuff on quake that is... anyways.
Just figured i'd share that link.
