awesome, avatar.. didnt really have anything to say other than freebsd is the way to go for servers, but debian is bad either. But ubuntu is just garbage, might as well install windows server instead.

Gotcha. Simple enough with wget when you're just archiving a site.

I've known what mirroring IS, I've just never done it before so I don't know the full scope, excuse my slight moment of ignorance, I was half dead at 4:00am and my brain was reaching critical mass between CSS, image designing, FTP transferring, CMS configuring for 7 straight hours (with little sleep to begin with)

    Lennox have you used EHCP?

To my understanding I'm able to (say for instance) create a domain on "my" server with the ip address (HTTP://77.777.777.777) and say Solecord wanted me to switch Quakeone.com over to my server () I'd tell his domain register to point the nameservers from his IP address to mine and wait a day or so for internet magic to happen then Quakeone.com would be hosted from my server?

I've dealt with the "front-end" of this before when switching from one webhost to another (Using shared hosting) and even have ran my own WAMP & LAMP servers but never messed around to much with Domain Name Services...

I'm eager to learn the new server! First I'm still working on a design theme for a specific company. Here's a preview of the theme nearing completion (No content yet.)

*I'm not going to give out the company name as its being held tightly under wraps for now while its being built.

If you wanted you could archive it with wget like this:
    wget -mpck --user-agent="" -e robots=off --wait 1 www.foo.com

    Nah
I was just trying to upgrape his shambler to wooly

No pro bono or hosting just a hand out to save another quake site before it winks out.
If I had that kind of horsepower I would have already archived it
as a preemptive gamble that it may need archival services and email
the potential client the backup or back up promo.
    Listen...................Do you hear it?

Are you saying the first customer is quakedev , and its probono? Certainly could allow stretching of legs prior to first customer.

Wow you don't see the potential.
Quakedev is your first customer lets say.
All of the content of the customer's website has to be mirrored to it's new home without loss of business.
I was trying to goad you into action to take this opportunity as a trial run for your business model.
    Targeting yet?

A file server that contains a duplicate set of files from another file server... you aren't familiar with the term?

Dude its so easy now its scary.
A lamp server with wordpress can be setup in 20 minutes.

The bandwidth is the real cost, A large refrigerated box of blade servers would be worth its weight in gold if it sits on or near the backbone. It would require 1 tech savy Guard to protect it while it grows . hehe Good luck bro.

    Thank you very much

I don't have an idea of connection its on its really responsive for me (go figure its in the same city as me ) I'm also not sure of the specifics of the server though I should definitely attain that info!

$10,000 a month was my friend's statement, he is very well connected, knows how todo business and I believe hes bordering on being rich so I think he'd be able to push a business that far or farther if he wanted to.
I also believe it will be difficult though.

I can do whatever is needed, I am truly a "Jack of All Trades: Master of none".

Thanks Disco your tips really help me get a gauge on what kind of ride I am possibly in for, I'll be looking into all of that type of stuff now.

Well here I am at 4 10 in the AM and I've finally got a half-assed decent CMS running in a test section of the server (I didn't setup the server side just the website side so far). I'm really liking how this boost in technicality is effecting my ability to help me with ideas (I'm happy so far with the past 7 hours of continuous work I've started putting into this new "test project website and while I won't give out the URL I can assure you I will eventually get back to whooping ass and taking names in Quake OBV!

But for now I have to wake up in 4 hours and hit the gym then "play" some more with website server, business stuff!

Damn I think I'm so tired right now I might skip the gym actually and get an extra hour of ZZZZZ in. I don't even feel like spell-checking this har har har!

    Later all!
Well good luck man, if you need any help with anything let me know, i have previous experience with running servers.
