Hi Mark,

You probably already know this but if you load the map and type noclip whilst in console you should be able to walk through walls, floors, ceilings which in turn will enable you to check out for yourself those intriquing areas of maps that are hard/impossible to get to normally.

If the dimensions can accommodate it, your idea for a room with tunnels going off around the map could be a nice utilisation of what is currently "dead" space for a "remix" of the E1M1 map (IMHO).

Nothing's up there, if there was something there - there'd be a way to get up there or it'd be a known easter egg if something was (a-la DooM 2 Romero secret) due to the games age - every nook and cranny has been explored in Quake's stock maps.
