Now if I remember correctly... DarkPlaces does have a Mac build these days.

I know knghtbrd who worked with LordHavoc on Twilight is a Mac user and helped him with some stuff.

If I recall, Napoleon was on a Mac, but I haven't seen him in a while...

Most Mac Quakers already have Mac Quake installed, and since there are no updates, I guess it explains the low downloads...

Now what would be friggin awesome: JoeQuake for Mac OS X !!

Not too many Mac Quakers left

As far as I can tell, it's you, Ronin -- who dropped in a couple of weeks ago and JohnXMas. The Mac Quake downloads here have only been used 11 times grand total so far.

I had hoped it would be more than that, even most of the QuakeC source codes have been downloaded with greater frequency.

I might get a Mac Mini later this year or early next year and see if I can make more things for Mac users (I have some ideas for some slight modifications to the Intel/Power PC OS/X GL Quake).

Mac Quaker in the house !!!

At home I work and play on a Apple Powerbook 15" running Tiger

    G4 processor at 867mhz
    1 GB RAM
    40GB HD (shucks!) + 80GB external + 120GB external
    DVD 8x RW/CD 48x RW
ATI whatever 32MB (vomit bag, please)

It's a nice machine but it's getting old...

At work I use a Apple Powermac G5 running Tiger (OS X 10.4)

    Dual G5 2.3Ghz
    2 GB RAM
    250GB Serial ATA; 7200 rpm
    DVD 16x RW/CD 52x RW
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 with 256MB of GDDR SDRAM

    That feels much better.

Yeah, I hope it's just a memory leak issue. My system tray is KLEEN bish. Just sound and the time!!
(does time take up memory? *disables that*)

You got 1.5 gigs of ram though. I'd like to see you run Photoshop CS, Bryce 5 and some high end game on 512 megs of ram. It takes a good minute and a half for America's Army to load for me when I have Homesite+ and Winamp open at the same time.... AA is a memory hog...

The typical background software that runs while I play quake is usually

FireFox Bwoser (with a few open tabs)x2
Adobe CS2 9.0 (With few pics open)
    Search & Destroy
    Deamon Tools
    PeerGuardian
    MSN Messenger
    Azeures torrent manager
WMP 10 (Just idling because I can.)
Telnet session to my Bomber server
WST_FTP connected to Bomber server, Killingpixels.com, SNS site & Bomber site
    Conquer Online (Sometimes)
    Couple RAR files
    Fruityloops (Sometimes)
    Bryce 5.5 (Simetimes)

I also run GLQuake in a window at 1280x1024 32BBP

My PC has no problem having this open and playing Quake multiplayer.
Maybe I just have a good setup, I do read reviews on hardware so I know what works and what doesn't

Quake doesn't take much to run. It won't matter if there is other stuff in the background.

Blows my mind when ppl show up with IM open, torrents downloading/upload, large file download taking place or otherwise having obvious performance killers in the background.

    Makes no sense to me.

Especially, if it is something like CA or Rocket Arena -- where you are gonna get owned if that is happening.

Why would you want to run a high end game and other apps in the background? If you're playing a game, you shouldn't be defragging your system or playing full-screen porn or editing digital audio files... you should be playing your game and that's it. WTF is wrong with you?
