Well, by definition, people download stuff off the internet have:

1. A computer
2. A internet access

So poverty is an inadequate description to the sole reason of piracy. Napster was USA college students sharing music (Napster was started if I recall at Stanford University --> not a public college, a private institution = wealthy).

Doesn't fit into any reasonable description of poverty.

So if the rich does it it's considered socializing, if the poor does then it's considered piracy, lol who makes these laws?

Having a computer (or phone) and internet access doesn't at all mean that you are not poor, Baker. Both of these things are pretty cheap these days.

I don't know about university students in the US, but in Germany there are enough university students who are definitely NOT rich and have to work McJobs and even prostitute themselves to finance their life.

The US isn't the world.

Also, I don't think that money is "the problem".

Throwing money at banks may not solve anything because they are banks; making sure that John Doe has a better income would DEFINITELY change A LOT of things.

I don't have the answers. But here is an example:

Microsoft Office costs "a lot". Photoshop costs "a lot". 3D Studio costs "a lot".

Yet you could go with Blender, Gimp or OpenOffice (or LibreOffice ... what a bad name).

But most people will simply "steal" what they want instead of using a no-cost or lower cost alternative.

And with movies or games, they will just decide to "steal" what they want ... even if the movie in the USA is available on Netfix ($7/mo) or at a RedBox machine for $1. And I didn't even mention movie rentals or used games ... a game 1 year later costs very little (EBay, GameStop in the USA, etc.)

Probably what is worst about this is if you go down the path of moral justification, it makes you a lower quality person overall and stunts your personal growth.

And apparently they think the world works just by magic.

Muhammed was rather intelligent and educated --- not in a formal way, he couldn't read or write, for instance --- for his part of the world at the time and had a firm grasp of social concepts, morality and history and other cultures as best as he could have known.

And higher Muslim culture a few hundred years later would develop scholarly interests like learning about Greek philosophy and so forth and interests in the sciences.

That guy should learn about Muslim history before moving on to more complicated things like world history or predicting the future.
