haha I hate every single show you posted there except for Judge Judy. No one else here watches HBO shows?? No wonder everyone here hates TV.
#1 best show on TV = The Sopranos
#2 best show on TV = Deadwood
As for basic cable channels, I'm not a big fan of reality shows but I was sick or something earlier this year and the only thing on tv was the debut of the new season of The Apprentice. Haven't missed an episode since then. There's also previews of a new show coming up that looks interesting - Treasure Hunt or something on NBC? Looks like a cross between The Amazing Race and The Da Vinci Code... I'll give that show a try.
In July, TNT or TBS is going to have a Stephen King based mini-series Nightmares and Dreamscapes... lots of big name actors in that one. Can't wait for that to come on.
Can't forget hockey in the winter. I'll be ordering the NHL Center Ice package so I can have hockey on every single night during the season

Myself I can find a lot of things on TV that are decent:
COPS on Court TV (and a few other channels)
Wildest Police Videos on Spike TV.
Real TV/Maximum Exposure on Spike TV.
Most Extreme Elimination Challenge on Spike TV.
Court Shows (Judge Judy, Peoples Court, ect.) (Local channels)
Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.
The anime on Cartoon Network is good.
Just about anything on the History Channel is cool.
Ghost Hunting shows on the Travel Channel.
Deadliest Catch on Discovery Channel.
Iron Chef on the Food Network.
Hell's Kitchen on FOX (starts after American Idol finishes up)
Anime Unleashed on G4.
M*A*S*H on Hallmark Channel
South Park on Comedy Central (although I know everyone on here hates it)
But hey, that's just me. I know since everyone else that's posted here hates TV that I'm going to get bashed for this post but seriously I like a lot of shows.

It's rude, violent, graphic, sexual, and full of the most mentally-insane plot twists in the history of Television. It's great.Originally posted by seightenbank, i pretty much agree with you on your post except for one thing and thats the lack of airing for nip tuck
i never watched the show but it looked cheesy from the commercials. could you tell me a bit about it?
And my name is Bank, not a place where you put money : D

Everything is a reality show. I really dont care about a bunch of dumb pretty people in a house.
Cartoons cant be enjoyed by anyone but children anymore, we have no Ren and Stimpy and even Spongebob is being cancelled. The only half-way good one on now is Grim and Evil.
Animation has become a joke. I hate to think of the kids that grow up on Family Guy and want to "draw" like that. (I used to work as an animator/cartoonist)
MTV is to Music as KFC is to Chicken.
G4, the last good tech station after TechTV sold out and became a poor man's Spike.
Mexican Soap Operas are still funnier than sitcoms.
Miami Vice is no longer on the air.
FX has stopped airing Nip Tuck.
Sports stars are so airheaded that even watching a game makes you just a little bit dumber.
Comedy Central has become all reruns and bad movies. (Can you say House Party 4?)
That's why TV sucks.

Hehe, I've never tried buying a TV show season... I should try that sometime. Although if I did do that, I don't know if I'd ever watch it. It's different when you're just bored and channel surfing looking for a surprise and 'ooh! that show is on!'

I'd watch something halfway decent, a commerical would come on, I'd get bored and go do something else and forget to watch the rest of the show. I admit to having the attention span of a rock, but I just don't have the patience for commercials.Originally posted by SajtI hate commercials though.
That's why I rent TV on DVD series rather than watch them on TV. Commercials suck.
Also: It really sucks if you only like 3 shows and 2 of them are on at the same time.

There were a few shows that I used to like. If I had a TV now, I imagine I'd still watch it now and then. Usually though there's nothing on when I'm in my TV watching mood (which is when I'm tired or lethargic or otherwise incapacitated and have nothing else I can do), but sometimes there is. I hate commercials though. I would watch canucks hockey on TV if it was in sync with the radio broadcast (i.e. so I could mute the TV and listen to the 100x superior commentators on the radio)

you are right, its not just fox, its pretty much everything in the mainstream. the lables i do agree with, and while its hard not to be the friend of my enemy, its sometimes better to walk away from the whole thing
your post was more informative than mine as well, probably because of drug use leading to a lack of encompassing comprehension, which is why im less intellectual and more emotional as opposed to before (and my writing style is just damn lazy)Last edited by seighten; 05-27-2006, 08:30 PM.

It's not just O'Reilly, it's just about every news program tries to push a certain point of view on you.Originally posted by seightenoreilly likes to provide the kind of programming that gives a sense of cynicism and xenophobia, of which i would like to lable him mentally imcompetent of "informing the people" and stopping whatever crazy spin of his in an ongoing psychosis of beyblades or something
The result of all these news programs trying to force their agenda on you, whether or not it is "liberal" or "conservative" or what not (those are stupid labels, btw, they mean nothing), is that they need to make you feel the world is going to hell.
You see, in order for those that push agendas on you to get their desired result, they have to prompt the listener to action.
Therefore, they must frighten you and tell you the end of the world or the end of your way of life is nigh.
Hence, they sell you on fears like the bugdet deficit, immigration, global warming, the ozone hole, dolphins in tuna, school quality is going to hell.
So ... that's why I don't watch the news. It's all exaggerated anyway.

TV is good, or at least HBO is... and at least on Sunday's it is... The Sopranos, Deadwood, Carnivale, Six Feet Under, Rome... all original HBO programming which kicks ass. If I could get a television with my local NBC affiliate (for the local news), HBO, TNT and TBS (for sitcom reruns when nothing else is on), and something like The Discovery Channel or National Geographic Channel (because at 2am in the morning when you force yourself to stay up and flip through tv you always land on Discovery to see a couple of rhinos hump).

tv sucks because channels of garbage like spike for example put pop-ups on the screen with sound (especially that bonzai one which blocks a third of your view, ill never watch that show because of this bullshit)
it sucks because of commercials that make me want to go out and kill people
it also sucks because most of the stuff on tv is garbage
