Prosecutor arrested after dropping joint in court - WLOX.com - The News for South Mississippi

According to media reports, a marijuana joint fell out of prosecutor Jason Cantrell's pocket onto the courtroom floor in front of police officers in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.

People who witnessed the scene said the two officers glanced at the joint, and then exchanged a baffled look before making one of the, what many would call, world's easiest drug busts.

The officers reportedly laughed as they escorted Cantrell, 43, out of the courtroom and wrote him a summons for simple possession of marijuana.

Roll on the floor laughing that has to be embarrassing as f*** I wonder if that will jeopardize his job because prosecutors have been arrested 4 drugs in the past and kept their jobs which I do not agree with because they will prosecute someone for the same thing they were arrested for

Back when I worked at the sheriff's office 1 of the deputies arrested a city police officer 4 possession of heroin the deputy stopped the police officer who was off duty in his personal vehicle for running a stop sign. The heroin was sitting on the center console in plain site. When the deputy asked the city officer why he had it. He claimed he was buying the drugs to turn it in to evidence and rid the street of any and all drugs. The amount he bought was enough for 2 hits/doses and when his arms were examined by a hospital nurse they found numerous markings on the backside of his arm. He also submitted to a drug test the next day ordered by the agency he worked for and failed it miserably. I think he got 6months probation and 6 months rehab and of course loss of his job.
