CTF revival

So i played a few games of pub ctf last night with rook, stoop, geek, and nessonic, and it was really great and got me thinking about how we can get more games going. lets try to do the thursday night CTF thing. let's meet on IRC, irc.gamesurge.net, in #quakeone at 10 PM EST, 7 PST and we can go from there. even if just 2 or 3 people show up we can probably get a few more if we ask around at rage, shmack, or whatever. I will be there this thursday, hope to see some of you there too! also, i'll try to assemble a list of CTFers on AIM and ICQ, so if you have either of those and want to play, please PM me your name. If enough people only have MSN, then I will get that too

Hey spooker! As you could see I've kind of already made a topic about this, glad to see more people trying for this! I have Aim but barely on it, I'm thinking the IRC thing may be better as I could redownload mIRC ( deleted it because I was using Opera, but now I'm using firefox ).

I'm in - I've been looking to get back into Quake; CTF in particular. I will hop on and idle in #quakeone, but for communication purposes I highly recommend any gamer download xfire which is the premier, free gaming chat program.

I also have access to several TeamSpeak and Ventrilo servers, if any pickup gamers wish to use those.

My xfire should be nessonic, just I tried using it for Quake but it seems a bit wierd as it doesn't list any servers, will only list ProQuake, and even when I add a server it won't list how many are in there, etc. If you could tell me how to set it up to list them etc., Heroshot, I'll start suing xfire again, as I do like the interface and all.

Nessonic: Unfortunately, the current XFire build does not support joining Quake 1 games (outside of using the QuakeWorld frontend, which no one uses anymore). I am petitioning to get other frontends added for support by the program, but it could be quite some time.

Meanwhile, it can merely be used to send quick messages to other quake players, set up mini chatrooms for gameplay, and even use it for voice communication.

uhoh monster, watch out, we have a secret weapon--stoop! unfortunately he's not around much anymore but we'll see. Clan matches are a definite possibility, let's start with the revived thursdays though. I will keep you in mind monster as one of the people interested in ctf. im off on sundays and mondays so I'd like to extend the Thursdaynight CTF to Sunday nights?? kinda like 3 on 3 minor league? Or whatever, cause once a week is weak sauce. We need every night CA is great for shuck and jive target practice but CTF is a full team game!

Thursday nights at 10 est sounds fine, I'm sure people will be getting in early though so that's good. And yeah, CTF Sundays or some other night sounds good too, or maybe, split it up? Thursdays is for straight normal pub CTF, sunday's for extras like runes and such? As me and Heroshot were in the game today and it started getting into runes and stuff so I got out.

I'm into sundays; i dont know why, but the servers always seem to be hopping on sunday nights, so we can use that. It is probably better than thursday, it's just that Thursdays seem to be somewhat of a tradition. So let's try both this week and see what works out best
