Quake 2 never had a server browser built in, but has a server address book that you manually put in your favorite servers either through Quake 2 itself or by manually editing your config.cfg to add them using this example format:
    Code:
    set adr0 "67.228.69.114:27912"
    set adr1 "67.228.69.114:27920"
    set adr2 "67.228.69.114:27914"
    set adr3 "74.86.171.200:27923"
    set adr4 "67.228.69.114:27921"
    set adr5 "74.86.171.203:27910"
    set adr6 "67.228.69.114:27910"
    set adr7 "74.86.171.200:27932"
    set adr8 "67.228.69.114:27928"
I use the Yamagi port mostly under Linux and it plays online just fine. If you need to find servers you can use http://q2servers.com/ or others.

Tastyspleen has the very old Quake2Max hires texture pak hosted for download and there where some other links on the Quake 2 Cafe some where ages ago.
