  • Hello from Rino at all fans of Hexen II,

    I added another work lately about the missionpack by RinoEVO for HeXen II (under construction), this map is based on the old map 7 "Campana di Bronzo" (Bell Bronze), from the old mpbyrino, ... I would say that the bell is only thing that is remained!...

      Thank you for keeping us updated with your Hexen 2 work.
      Bwrosing through your screenshots, I noticed that your style is very interesting.
      You use a lot of black/white and grey colors. Giving your maps a special look.

      Really great screenshots and levels.

      I think I have already asked you this question, do you aim a special engine ?
      Or are your maps/mods independent?

        It 's a pleasure for me go in this nice forum, when I have something new in construction.

        The look rather obscure and darkness, it is the theme I'm trying to give, for
        this reworking....

        For the missionpack by RinoEVO, there will be no special engine.

        • This is MH HeXen II Engine (probably he aims to make DirectH2? i am not sure)

          Sorry if i shouldnot release it, but agree its a plus to hexen2 that have a little attention.
          I guess MH will not continue hexen2 project, and probably not support it.
          I am tried to contact him, but still no reply.
          It still uses OpenGL API.

          Also i have some own hexen2 project's i will release it "as is" to.

          • I've been using the UQE 1.13 ever since, and have done the Portals [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpVizUUBE8k"]speedrun[/ame] with it. I am surprised to find out that there is a new 1.17 version, but let me ask you something straight: what are they key differences between 1.13 and 1.17 apart from ogg, mp3, wav automatic audio support?

            I see that pak5.pak and the pak6.pak files have changed (increased in size) since 1.13.

            1.13 pak5 (4330 Mb) - 1.17 pak5 (4412 Mb)
            1.13 pak6 (4310 Mb) - 1.17 pak6 (4418 Mb)

            Which should be used?


            Can i use the 1.13 CONFIG in 1.17 or do i have to make a new one from scratch?

              I ask you some advice that you have probably already treaty.
              I'd like to also implement the graphics engine Fteqw, in my work.
              I ask how to use the music. ogg or .mp3, (if that is possible) what is the procedure and strings to put in Worldspawn map (use Quark).
              I also noticed that the music, while playing, plays only once from the CD, and does not restart,
              maybe there is something to be set in the main menu?
              a strange thing, when I leave the game, the mouse remains slow.
              Anyway, congratulations to the author of this beautiful engine, very configurable.

                sound/cdtracks/trackXXX.EXT
                music/trackXX.EXT

                where the XX or XXX is replaced with a 1-based track index.
                and EXT is some file extension (and thus supposedly format too)
                .wav always works.
                .mp3 only works in windows (using the system decoder to avoid gpl issues)
                .ogg requires extra libraries on windows (on linux, generally available as part of your distro).

                        I would not know, I continue when I have the time to do this project.
                        Also, sometimes I want to do something added or changed.
                        I can definitely say that I have, 2 or 3 maps, to add to those you see with images on my site.
                        2 maps are just to put the textures, and are derived, like the other maps from mpbyrino1.
                        The whole project refers to mpbyrino1, but some maps are changed too.
                        Hammer of Thyrion as a graphic mod, it also works Fteqw but there is a problem with the music, is very nice also UQE, but on my levels, has several bugs, not for the mod ... but as far as designing maps, (many triggers).
                        There will be music from hexen ... writings in Latin, as clues here and there.

                        However, I jump here when I have news. Greetings to all

                          • Do you think requiring the Portal of Praevus expansion for a custom map( set) is OK, or is it better to stick with base Hexen 2? It seems like PoP is a bit pricey to come by these days, but maybe all the staunch Hexen 2 fans have it already. It has some pretty nice added stuff in it.

                              • many/most custom hexen2 engines require portals anyway... some of them provide a sufficient subset (gamecode) of it for them to run, and that subset should also be enough for maps - on the condition that they don't use extra content stuff like monsters.
