Hexen II on Mac OS X - questions and discussion

Hi. I'm using Hammer of Therion and it's a good client to play H2 on OS X. But there is a question from me: whats with FTEQW? There are really awesome textures, but you can only use them with the FTEQW-engine. I can't get this engine working on my Mac, does somebody have an idea?

There isn't a OS X build of FTEQW, Spike doesn't have an OS X machine and generally speaking it requires a Mac using XCode to compile right for OS X so there isn't an FTEQW build for OS X.

Textures can be used with JsHexen2 and UQE too (but with uqe you need the original lo-res files)

That is unfortunate. So I need to wait for new textures for HoT, do I? But I can play the game now with the old textures and this is much better than no Hexen II .

FTE can be cross-compiled for macos thanks to sdl.

there are also some builds there. the 10.4 ones are up to date, but the 10.5 ones seem a little older.
But yes, I don't have a mac, these are not built by me.

Found differences (Only "HeXen II: The Beginning of the End" is officialy released for Mac OS, works with OS X too)

After this willbe played "Hexen 2 Intro" (its actually .mov file inside) content is the same as Istart.smk from PC CD (Installation Intro)
