  • Requesting lost Frikbot map pack

Hey, guys. I recently got a new hard drive and, for some stupid reason, I didn't think to backup my quake maps onto skydrive. I had the map pack from this thread before I swapped out that hard drive for this new one. Now, when I went to go get those maps again, the link was dead. I could only get the waypoint files; the maps were no longer there. Does anyone have this map pack? It's pretty kickass, and it had like 200 maps in it....

EDIT: I even tried Wayback Machine. There's no archive of it, unfortunately.

    I was not able to find this 3 files ( valhalla, w3, w3v2 )!

If someone send me this files, I could upload a complete pack with the original 500 maps.

    thks!

I don't know if it includes those 3 specifically, but I have the pack and waypoints mirrored here:

And if you're using FBX+, here's a modification of it to restore the map-cycle feature: http://eclecticmenagerie.com/jl/quake/bots/fbx++.zip

Plus the map cycle config split into smaller chunks, for Quake engines that can't digest the big single file: http://eclecticmenagerie.com/jl/quak...CycleSplit.zip

I didn't have them either, thanks for making me search! Meant to check out that Talon directory years ago...

Also mirrored Johnny's files, thanks. _o/

Just FYI, I made that "quickstart" bundle by taking the map pack, applying the waypoints pack, and then bundling the results together with the FBX++ mod. It's kind of a shortcut compared to starting from the original packs, but the content is the same.

(There may of course be a few of the waypoint files that don't have a corresponding map in the pack... I don't remember if that's the case or not.)

Nope, just normal FrikBot with a few fixes.

As far as I know the FrikBot CTF stuff in RMQ has never been made available as a mod for use with other Quake engines.

I just now stumbled upon this thread for this first time. I could have uploaded the map pack for you guys, but I'm glad someone else beat me to it.

Johnny, about your quickstart Frikbot pack - does it include the ENT patches of my pack? They are pretty important for the game play of a handful of maps. The reason I didn't include the patched maps in my pack was because of possible copyright issues. I didn't want to modify anyone elses .bsp files. But honestly, I'm sure nobody cares about that now. I just wanted to make sure you applied the patches.

Also, why is Skis1-5.bsp in the "Readme files" folder of the archive, rather than the maps folder?

I'm glad my waypoints are still being used. I put so many hours of work in them, it's not even funny... I probably could have picked up a job at NASA if I used that same time studying rather than waypointing. It was fun, though...

Old thread but I just now noticed these questions! So:

                            - The "quickstart" bundle has all the necessary changes applied.

                            - Those bsp files are in the "Readme files" folder because you put them there. :-) I just noticed that recently. I'll fix it someday soon-ish. Could also remove the bsp for dranzdm4 since it doesn't have waypoints.

Thanks for all that work! I was playing around with the bots again this past week using qbism Super8 for some variety.

Finally got around to fixing this, and incorporating other things mentioned in this thread while I was at it:
                              - "dranzdm4.bsp" removed, since it didn't have waypoints.
                              - "skis1.bsp" - "skis5.bsp" moved from "Readme Files" to "Maps".
                              - "Maps" folder renamed "maps".
                              - "fbx+.zip" replaced with "fbx++.zip". FBX++ is just like FBX+, with support for map cycles restored.
                              - "maps.cfg" changed (split up) to support Quake engines that have trouble with large config files.

I renamed the modified zipfile to DefinitiveFrikbotMappackV2b.zip.

The quickstart bundle containing that has also been updated.
