and connect manually to a server by opening console in-game with ~-key and typing 'connect IP' (replace IP with the IP of server)

Quick history lesson. What's the first Quake level editor ever to come out and when was it made available?

also, small side question. where can I play Quake online? So far I've tried gameranger (which supports Quake) but there aren't any players there. I have the non-steam version.
