I don't disagree with you specifically, I disagree with every instance of nay sayer's that walk amongst me.

There are others who got my back! I just have nothing going on at the moment, and so long as I'm at the helm of this it'll remain this pace. Nice and slowWant to get into playing Quake again? Click here for the Multiplayer-Startup kit! laissez bon temps rouler!

It's 2014, I'm actively showing interest in an otherwise forgotten work. It's not on the billboard, and it's not generating GOBS OF CASH.
I'm handling the idea of Free Quake the only way I know how, and thats 1 step at a time....The scope of the larger and rather complicated idea Free Quake is RIDDLED with many know's not it all,but many all's (with little to no interest in offering what they could consider a walk in the park would take months or years for me. I'm not some random bloke who showed up and said "Yo I have an idea for a mod, someone make it for me/1day passes/"Yo I'm back and I'm noticing I still don't have my mod".
I care,I care enough that since Baker's made it clear, he's not around for shit including me when a newb ass Quaker (I'm good at killing people in Quake, and that translates to grape sessions where ever I go in multiplayer gaming. I always have an instance where I have multiple choices or avenues and not a fucking soul in sight for me to turn about and notice a common goal.
This game rocks, the fucking soundtrack is second to none in my book. In 1996 when Quake fired up and the Intro music played, you wasn't loading a mere game, you was loading something that would clearly change your life.
It's 2014 and you're reading about a game from 1996 from a mid thirty's GenX gamer who cut his teeth no an Atari 2600 (the Coleco hand me down I receiver didn't work, and the Atari 2600 didn't last anytime either.)
I'm bred to game, whether any rational grown adult would admit this or not, the fact is I do. Back in 1996 a game grabbed my eyesockets and bothered to relenquish them. I spent the first year and a half to two years grinding single player Quake, never figuring out End map until realizing I could take this fn beast of a game online and start massacring human enemy opponents.
I based my preference of mod I would play competitively at a unreal breakneck speed. 1st it was CTF servers abroad until Hating came along,which I fell in love with 4 RUNE CAPTURE THE FLAG NORMAL MODE , which resulted in ;
Never, Ending, CTF. PERIOD! I could as a teenager drop 8+hours in Hating, the server was full when I arrived and its fn full now that I'm leaving. Take a unknown lengthy nap, wake up, go back to PC and fire up Hating CTF (I have no recollection of how hard it was to get in a server, but considering most of us was narrowband soldiers of the screeching and banshee irritating ass noises of when we issued the handshake to get on our blasting fast internet.
Quakeworld came and I laughed and never even bothered with that shit.
this game rocks more socks and ****s than any one individual can imagine, for anyone person to even attempt to convey the why's and how's Quake is the very definition of a force to be reckoned with.
I have my own opinions of what's wrong with this community (when I say this, I have no intentions of members of Quakeone.com) but there is no one to care or really bother with attempting to isolate the social turmoil that the Multiplayer Quake communities (from Shmack to Euroservers to Clan Arena's to the CRMOD and 3WAVE servers.... If the guy or gal opens a quake client and connects to a multiplayer servers, these individuals are the ticking time bomb that is Quake's final 'HooRa' . It's not in immediate danger of faltering into non existance we have a healthy crowd of over-capable skilled to the fn teeth Quakers who can handle their bidness whether its Rocket Jumping into a position the enemy isn't expecting, or skipping powerups at the start of a round of "CTF Match Mode" since that's all you'll get now days, or its the finesse of RocketArena where you take self inflicted damage,you,1 enemy, some ammo, and a map. Quaker's of the highest skill calipers do not limit themselves to one spot, and when you get many skilled players in one spot (tiny pond syndrome in full effect) you can imagine how good or bad it can become.
viva la free quake idea broseph. even if snails are mad fast compared to my effort. its an effortWant to get into playing Quake again? Click here for the Multiplayer-Startup kit! laissez bon temps rouler!

My reply is not very direct, but I would like to give you my two cents... (Ha, ha, the funny thing is Canadians don't use cents anymore! Canadians round off the values! The nickel is actually the lowest value in Canada, but that's a different story.) BACK TO MY OPINION: I do not know why idsoftware chose Nine Inch Nails, but the bottom line is: it worked. At that time, rap music was really popular. Why didn't idsoftware choose a rap musician? At that time, nu metal and rap metal were the kings. I wonder what would have happened if idsoftware had collaborated with Korn. I wonder what would have happened if idsoftware had collaborated with Rage Against the Machine. Out of all the musicians they could have chosen, in the end, they chose Nine Inch Nails. Why? I don't know why, but as I mentioned earlier, it WORKED! Nine Inch Nails' music actually matched the quick movement and the dark atmosphere of single-player Quake. As much as I like Kid Rock, I don't think that it would have worked with Kid Rock's music... Kid Rock's music doesn't really reflect a dark environment. Kid Rock's music is for people who like to roll with skateboards or snowboards. Kid Rock's music is for people who like to smoke (a lot). It was a roll of the dice, but it worked for idsoftware! I think that music DID contribute to Quake's success. Gameplay is one thing, but music DOES have its level of importance."Through my contact lenses, I have seen them all, I've seen wicked clowns and broken dreams / Crazy men in jumpsuits trying to be extreme and messing around with your computer screen" - Creative Rhyme (03/23/2012)

From what i knew, the guys at id realy personally liked Trents music and knew him personally.
I suppose thats why there are NIN easter eggs in doom. I think he was the perfect candidate to create the audial atmosphere for Quake.
Now dont hold me to evidence because i didnt write this shit down.
But my dad is a huge metalhead, and took me to several concerts when was young.
He didnt take as much of an interest In NIN as i did but i got a chance to go to a concert backstage at his 09 north America tour.
I i got to talk to him for a couple minutes and gave him my cell number, not that he would use it but i asked him: How do you feel about people buying quake off of steam often and not getting the soundtrack?
To which he replied somthing like this: I think that the soundtrack is an integral part of the game and should come with any copy of the game, but i dont realy have time to sort that out right now.Last edited by M_Luminoth; 08-19-2014, 01:09 AM.We primarily speak english here...
