  • Nostalgia attack!!

So I was digging around in some old boxes and dug up some major treasure! I found three old PC Gamer Magazines from May, June, and August of 1997. I thought I'd share what I found with you all since you're all cool and stuff.

A Walkthrough for Quake, also making note of the release of SoA.

    Part 2

    Activision gets Quaked!

Quake places 15 in the 50 best games of '97, beating out Duke3D and Descent.

Hell to the yeah's, I remember buying that exact magazine just because Quake was in it. I'm still miffed about Mjolnir was canned/scrapped. Holy balls just the thought still provokes tent pitching.

coooooooool. I wonder what Quake would have been like if technology allowed id to do everything that they really wanted to do with it. Makes you wonder. I wouldn't mind seeing a reboot. I mean, shoot...they did it to DooM. Twice!

ahhahahhahahahaha, FUCK I truely miss the days of PCGamer delivering a demo disc every issue. Once upon a time they offered demo's on 1.44" floppy's, the last demo game I got via 1.44" floppy I remember was either Cannon Fodder or Blackthorne

                  PC Gamer Demos

                  Virgin
                  18061 Fitch Ave.

System requirements: 386/33; mouse; VGA; 580K

Is this what happens when Lemmings go to war? Sure, they're little and cute, but they've got guns. And grenades. And bazookas... In this two-level demo, your goal is simple: kill the enemy soldiers and destroy their buildings. Hey -- it's not called Cannon Fodder for nothing.
lol,580K..............versus today's upwards to 6GB of DDR5 on one gpu. amazing how far we have come, honestly.

Something tell's me whoever was responsible for Worms games, was slightly influenced by Cannon Fodder. pure epic!

Scourge of Armagon is awesome Mindz, even better than Quake itself.

                      @GB
second mission-pack is even better imo <3

its more medieval and caves and castles rather then the boring base base base of the 2nd mission-pack,
and there's a lot of new enemies and a whole bunch of boss-fights which are all quite satisfying <3

armagon from SoA is imo quite easy

                      .

but yeah, mjolnir is in SoA. although imo its sadly a kinda useless weapon

                      .

also mindz: you are seriously missing out by never having looked at the mission-packs, they're both awesome!

are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
                      > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread
