Why is it called 'Quake: The Offering' and not just 'Quake'?

It just means that both mission packs are included. I haven't downloaded it yet, but as far as I understand, so is the music.

        We must gather a "how-to install all this:101" for Quake's 20th anniversary!

There is no reason for kids to waste their lives playing CS:GO and not be able to play Quake!!!

Ha, I thought it might be the mission packs too, as it's 1.1GB.

Lol. CS:GO is something that I can play for like an hour, then come back to like a month later and do the same XD

I could play quake ALL day. I'll help you put together a Quake 2015 Install guide or something if you want

Of course, I remember that. that's actually, the version I own. Imported straight from the US!) I just had no idea how else to answer the question, it was kind of unexpected on this forum))

P.S. Is that Stallone's face on the artwork???

great to finally see these games available on GoG
if i didnt already own the games on steam id totally buy them on GoG

but if i ever recommend quake or doom again to friends,
im totally recommending them to get the games on GoG.

                  long live the DRM-free revolution!
                  .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
                  > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

OK, I got happy too soon. Bethesda shit in our pockets again. So now, GOG has the right to include 3 full CD images, but no ogg. Although the EXE's are still compiled with SDL, ogg soundtrack is removed almost immediately after first release, and replaced with CD images (1.35 GB is size altogether), so that now DOS Quake has soundtrack (by mounting those CDs), but GLQuake runs "mute"...
Not that anyone needs GLQuake as of today, but a little respect after so many years would be nice.

Bethesda did what they could. They had to include the soundtracks together with CD images due to licensing issues (source: info given by Sponge, one of Quake Live's developers).

You can hear music in software version, because DosBox has a built-in mounting utility and the CFG file mounts the CD. Since GLQuake is a windows executable, you have to mount the image yourself. Personally, I used "Daemon Tools Lite" to mount the image and voila, I have a working soundtrack. You can also burn the image to a physical CD and insert it in your drive. That's as old-school as it gets

EDIT: I've clicked the link you provided only now and saw that my post was redundant as everything has already been said on GOG forums. I simply wanted to stress that Bethesda is not really the one to be blamed here.

By the way - I think the "buy Quake" page should be updated to include the GOG offer.

totally agree, the GoG bundle should definitely be added to the 'buy quake' page,
so that people will know its also available from there
