Alc, I completely undestand that it's kind of insulting as you say, but there's no reason to make such a big ordeal over one paragraph stated by Phenom, after all, we are all human, but there's no reason to go overboard as such... that paragraph is not the point of this thread, or the overall point coming across.

He didn't "slap the entire community in the face", because half the community loves playing at Dredd. Mindz you're making it obvious, that for personal reasons, is why you are posting such things. Stop drinking the hater-ade, and take off your hater-shades, this is Adult Quake: The Coming of Dredd.

Don't get it twisted though, Mindz and I get along very well for those of you reading this. But Mindz, for somebody who's supposed to be supportive of the community, "disowning" Dredd because of a statement is nonsense. You've played on Dredd prior to this thread, and now because of a statement, you feel like boycotting the server for yourself? That's completely rediculous. The overall objective is to bring as much play to as many servers as possible to keep quake alive, which you are neglecting to do, by doing such things. My 2 cents.

Just for argument's sake, you *can* make a strong argument that some of the old school CA+ DM3 only players aren't true Quakers.

Everyone vividly remembers when Rage/Bomber was new they were like "OMG! The splash" and actually needed to have explained to them that CAx uses the *REAL* Quake rocket splash damage, not the altered one that was in CA+.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with you. I think anyone that plays exclusively either a single mod or a single map isn't a true Quaker, but a niche Quaker and this applies to anything.

I think players that have only played at Shmack and never left the server are niche players. I think players that only play DM3 are niche players. I think players that don't know how to use a grappling hook are niche players. I think players that have never tried Quakeworld at least a few times are niche players. I think Quakeworld players that haven't even tried regular Quake online are niche players. I think players that have only used 1 engine are niche players. I think players that have never played a custom single player map are niche players.

There really is no such thing as a "Single Mod" Quaker now days , sure you'll find a few here and there (not looking at RuneQuake at all,because those guys mostly wont play other mod's unless its a variant of RuneQuake,but there are exceptions!)

Just for arguements sake against your ideal about what makes a "Real Quaker" , If today I went to college to be a Pediatrician , and thats what I chose my doctrine to be in,does that make me less of a Doctor because I chose a speciality and thats the field where I will remain? If I go into college to get a "Physics and Astronomy" degree,and choose to be more of an astronomer,does that make me less of a Physicist? See Baker,your attitude is that much like Phenom's,and it isnt a very good one in my opinion. You can call me a DramaQueen all you want,but if you fail to see why I judge phenom so harshly or as chad put, why im "reading between the lines" , then your missing the validity of what im saying completely.

I dont look at QuakeWorld gamers as less of a Quaker because they dont play NetQuake, albiet I talk negatively about QuakeWorld,its never implied I dont think of them as real Quakers.Now days,the majority of the CA Quakers play multiple mod's (once again excluding RQ Quakers) and arent limited to CA by itself.

That is a slap in the face to everyone before Dredd,and guess what?Before Dredd,all of the Dredd community at one time played at Rage,and all of the Rage community played at Bomber,which at a point in time,some of the current Dredd community was the Bomber community.It goes on and on,server to server,as each server died or was replaced,but in the end its pretty simple that your slapping an entire community in the face.I dont plan on revisiting Dredd, you can find me "Same Bat Channel,Same Bat Time" so to speak,continuing to be a "Niche Quaker" and a "False Quaker".

I'm done here,I have nothing more to add to this post nor do I intend to.

Good post Mindz, I see where you are coming from. You bring up valid points that do deserve a possible second look, but I think you went a little far on expressing moreso your opinion of the interpretation of some of Phenom's words rather than the communities outlook? Maybe? As I said....

...which in itself basically that this interview has nothing to do with the arguements over Dredd vs Rage, which as a Interviewer,is how things should be.Someone with no pre-concieved beliefs,and no "Loaded Questions" being allowed,which there wasnt any.It was a great interview,I found it quite appealing. That comment is a direct Derogatory Comment on the oldschool Clan Arena Quake community,that had no place in an interview.

Phenom's summing up people who play specifically DM3 as being 1]bored? 2]arent real quakers? and 3]Just want to play a game? This is low blow style response,putting Dredd players on a pedastool that Phenom declares they belong on,and CA'rs who've played DM3 for countless years are no longer fit to stand on this pedastool along side Dredd players.

They made all of this possible from the beginning,and others like r00k,Bam,Yellow5,Phenom,Baker,myself and others have taken up the torch at various points in time to improve what we have enjoyed in Quake at one point in time or another including now,and the way I understood Phenom's comments above , is that previous CA'rs who prefer DM3 are now a joke and dont warrant being considered real Quaker's.That alienates me from Dredd,why would I want to play where I'm considered a joke because of my perference in CA gameplay? You can have your admin codes back,I dont want them.I played my last game at Dredd tonite.

Dredd is my favorite server
I enjoy the playing style at Dredd
I enjoy the players that I frequently see at Dredd
I enjoy the mass of maps, as I feel it keeps it interesting and much less repetitive
I also love Rage, so don't get to thinking anything stupid

every map played 3 times is good, however yes/no vote at the end of every map would be easier I think (next map? YES/NO). 3 times the map is good too though + ppl can always "nextmap" it.

I see small downsides to Dredd, they are very far and few most of them just being already mentioned improvements such as (maps play 3x before rotating) + (removing the maps that everyone votes to 'skip'' from the map rotation. Other then that there really isn't to much of a downside to anything. I've been trying to not bother R00k to much, he deserves a break instead of having someone constantly telling him to fix stuff, I understand he must have a life to live too

Personally I believe R00k, Baker & everyone who gave their positive input and who seen something good in Dredd including myself ended up making a pretty nice server with a definite fun factor which also could easily run free of admins needing to be present constantly to watch and make sure players don't act up.

I even seen Vibe on Dredd earlier playing like a regular player, no BS from Vibe and me which is REALLY a weird thing. Like I said I want to give EVERYONE a fresh start at Dredd so they can come to play a server that cuts a lot of the BS that made CA servers in the past fail or turn into a flamer server. This isn't saying all CA servers are are a failed experiment or a flamewar, there are definitely great servers out there like the up coming bogo.quakeone.com server which even though it currently uses DM3 exclusively its ment to be a hybrid between Rage and Dredd meaning using both Rage's and Dredd's map packs and including rotation. This is a great idea and I really hope things go well for Bogo

In the end I'm just glad that I got the support I've got when it comes to Bomber.ironrocket.com not to be confused with bomber.quakeone.com or rage.quakeone.com but the original Bomber that was the foundation to get CAX off and runnin in a stable state. I couldn't have made Bomber without the community and Dredd would be nowhere if I didn't have the support of some really awesome people here at Quakeone.com. Thank you all for your help!

Instead of acting sneaky and editing my post to slip someone else in there. Its obvious but Frenzy has played a MAJOR roll in Dredd's success. He is also well known for his completely optimistic outlook on things and only does whats is right for the community, he's a man of the people. Thanks to you also Frenzy!

Ah, yes, Baker you bring up a great point. A downside to dredd: who'd of thought? But the input sparks a nice thought, what do you the one reading this, think are some of the downsides of dredd? And I'm asking for logical answers here, not a big shout match and insults. Input is what makes a server a server, and a player base an awesome atmosphere to be around, lets face it.

I like playing new maps that are great. The downside of a rotating map rotation is that you may not like every map (I don't) but the upside is that you only have to sit thru that for a single game.

If I really don't like a map, sometimes I just type AFK in the console and take a break You can also type "NEXTMAP" in the console to initiate a vote to change the map.
