Made this with the idea of putting this in the SMC 5.60 folder and browsing all of the effects available so I can see them.

I wish I had this feature back then.
Allthough, what I noticed is the particle amount is most of the time far too much (except fire variations), as they were meant to be called only once in game.
Especially the explosions (Rocket, etc.) or muzzleflashes look really different
But the idea is great.
You should implement 2 versions:
- called only once (activate by key press for example)
- called every 0,1 (for fire particles, etc.)
There are cvars in the mod -- like type "about" and it says their names and values. For example, particle_interval 0.02 is default is probably too fast. After some testing, particle_interval 0.25 probably should have been the default.
(The QuakeC source is in the download, btw.)
I have some things in the works that this will help me make things faster.
What prompted me to make this, I wanted some smoke that looked decent and my effectinfo.txt is basically Xonotic/Nexuiz and I can't preview effects -- so I can't easily browse to see what looks good -- so I decided to code away that problem.
