Is no one attempting this? Would you want an extra minute put into the timelimit? Fess up!

Thanks to Vis, whitehot.quakeone.com is now hosting the quakeone challenge.

So how are people fairing at it?

Don't die! It's a perfect plan! If you don't die you can't lose!

But the undead zombies have a similar plan. And since they're already dead they have to make sure they Don't.... suck!

    Damn right!

J/K if I see one more horde of zombies I'm going to delete C*S from my IM list for causing me so much grief with his new zombies and their new dash attack...

*TIP don't let them corner you or you die. heh

ezquake is a quakeworld engine and the 2 darkplaces servers are running under the QUAKE protocol which means only netquake clients can join. So that might be the problem.

Try giving Proquake, Unofficial Proquake, Joequake, Qrack, or Darkplaces a try.

Did you set the correct port? Depending on the client either connect like this:
    connect quake1challenge3.mine.nu:26004
    or like this:
    port 26004
    connect quake1challenge3.mine.nu

the dns name does resolve to an ip so that's not the problem.

I first ran qstat to see if anyone was in the server.

    Code:
    # qstat quake1challenge3.mine.nu:26004
ADDRESS PLAYERS MAP RESPONSE TIME NAME
    quake1challenge3.mine.nu:26004 0/ 1 e3m2 187 / 0 QuakeOne Challenge 3

    # qstat quake1challenge3.mine.nu:26005
ADDRESS PLAYERS MAP RESPONSE TIME NAME
    quake1challenge3.mine.nu:26005 0/ 1 e3m2 203 / 0 QuakeOne Challenge 3
Looks empty. I'll fill up one server and try connecting with another client to see what messages I get.

    Darkplaces:
    Code:
    ]connect quake1challenge3.mine.nu:26005

    Trying to connect...
"challenge 3y>P?Y@27<V" received, sending connect request back to 84.198.99.145:26005
    Got challenge response
    Server is full.
    WinProquake:
    Code:
    ]connect quake1challenge3.mine.nu:26005
    Setting port to 26005
    trying...
    Server is full.
    Host_Error: connect failed
Seems normal. I'd tried connecting with WinProquake when the server was in intermission. I connected just fine.

I don't know what to tell you. Maybe the server was occupied at the time or maybe the quake engine you're using just behaves that way. What quake engine are you using?

It could also be your ISP not allowing you to connect there. You can try one of these two commands: ping or traceroute (tracert on windows)

    Code:
    ping quake1challenge3.mine.nu
If you get a response, your ISP isn't the problem

    Code:
    traceroute quake1challenge3.mine.nu
If traceroute finishes without showing the code below then your ISP isn't the problem:

    Code:
      2 * * * Request timed out.
      3 * * * Request timed out.
      4 * * * Request timed out.
      5 * * * Request timed out.
      6 * * * Request timed out.
      7 * * * Request timed out.

for those of you using Qrack: dont use cl_autodemo for this for it will crash..

(incompatibility issue with DarkPlaces server.. maybe the latest Qrack build has fixed this.. i dunno)
