I just figured this out today, and noticed that I was only getting 30fps in 1024x768 with all the AA turned off,and all that other "make it look good" riff raff, and dropped my resolution down to 640x480 and got a 20fps increase, with a ping decrease!!

Also , I noticed a significant ping decrease when I dumbed Qrack's graphics down, and got my FPS to peak around 50, from about a 120ping down to a rough 80ping, which is really significant.

Maybe this should be added into the Quake help guides, that the higher the FPS you can get,the lower your ping will become.

My experience is the opposite. During the time when I would ping up to over 10000 on FvF for no reason, it could be resolved by setting my max_fps to 30 or lower. This gave me about a slightly higher ping than normal, roughly 100, but it was playable.

To this day, I still don't know why my ping skyrocketed on FvF during that time and not on any other server. And my only solution was to bring down my max_fps, strange as it may seem.
