As much as I have tried to avoid becoming a "forum" starter, it has become my interest to do so now. As many of you know, I have been playing netquake since mid 99 and I've seen many players come and go. However, the abundance of people that have left due to actions taken on recent servers such as speaknow and rage has plagued the game further. I am not going to say any names because I feel the true "players" know the source of the problem so I will take the other path and make a suggestion that may benefit us all, including those who are on a power trip, and have no control over anything besides a server. Phenom has recently brought it to my attention that there is a server up in Chicago. [ roots.quakeone.com ] This server offers several different mod(s) including traditional cax, ffa mode, airshot, practice mode, and I think it may even offer old school dm. Also, the server runs map rotation so no more of just 'dm3. I think everyone likes dm3, however, why have 100+ maps, and only play one? Anyway, everyone is more than welcome to come play, and I promise, this is a change for the better. I generally do not promote anything, and I try to keep my nose out of things, but due to recent events, and an overall sickness, I suggest the quake community make a switch to a "real" server. Also, if anyone has any suggestions, or anything that they would like to have done, or see on the server, I can be found on mirc @ gamesurge.net / #quake1 or if you feel inclined to sending me a message on here, feel free to do so.
Thanks.
