Having a static IP doesn't make dyndns any less effective. It still assigns a DNS to your IP and works just as well as if you had a static IP.

If you've got your own root server, you never need dyndns, at least in my experience. Either you want full control and run a DNS server yourself or you use the one the hosting company gives you for free.

Yes but its services shine providing a DNS to constantly changing IP's.

DynDNS is fine,if your using dynamic IP's,but something tells me the DNS service provided by Solecord is run off of an static ip,which defeats the usefulness of DynDNS.

QuakeOne Was Down Earlier Today
QuakeOne went down earlier this afternoon. It was down for less then an hour, but in that time all QuakeOne DNS was unavailable. There was an issue at the datacenter on the node where the web server is located. It's since been resolved.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
I really should move DNS off the server itself and host it elsewhere to protect against issues like this.Tags: None
