by putting info about his tourney on the main site. he should be banned, not glorified.

He's put together a successful tourney that has brought quake players together. Its a pretty significant feat for a game 14 years old.

When he joined your CTF game, did you ask him nicely to leave? He has done this in CA, and when i'm respectful and ask him nicely to leave, he does so right away.

yes, like 4 times. not just me either. the other people that were readied up. the only other person i can think of there is cd. you can ask him about it. he didn't go away and wouldn't unready. he has done the same thing multiple times in ca where he will make it 2v3 instead of 2v2v1 or he will obs until its like 4-4 games each then cc in. its not about being nice. when he wants to be an ass, he is an ass and he does it with no consequence since no one wants to nut up.

his tourney is not successful. he has kimped it all the way through. he lets players just sub in, stacking the teams. he changed the time of a match without telling anyone, causing me to change my plans for the night and making it so i couldnt play even though i changed my plans around.

good job, you got someone to organize a tourney. games were happening without him tho on a nightly basis. i think most quakers like to play with me and im a pretty nice guy (im sure some ppl will disagree). you have gained a fucktard in the quake community and lost an old schooler. whatever tho.

It is a tournament running and this is a Quake community.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

That's bad stuff and the servers should have a way to ban players who do that. And it is looking like we will (via whitelisting ... good luck trying to get around that with a proxy).

And players that do that type of thing once this feature is done will not be able to play on those participating servers.

And yet none of this has anything to do with the tournament or the news item or the 16-20 players participating in the tournament games.

i guess you have a good point. i just have a hard time encouraging someone idea who is a cheat. its like having a friend that is a a liar/stealer/cheat. why even associate with someone like that? i feel like kimp is being empowered to be this way due to everyones blase attitude now days towards these things.

the white/black listing is a pain and there are so many ways around it; however, if you just ban kimps primary ip, he has a 150 ping. this makes it less likely that he wants to play and it makes him more easy to identify.

sorry, i should say if ppl just ban his primary ip he will have a 150 ping. this has happened multiple times in the past, but it has been lifted. with a 150 ping, he came on less often and ruined games less often.

We need a permanent solution. In a lot of ways, this kind of thing has gone on a very long time.

There was some botter guy who I can't remember his name but he'd show up at CTF games in 2005 and he used a proxy and would just reconnect and bot again.

The difference between now and then is that we have developers and a lot of more development capability than in the past.

there does seem to be confusion. perhaps 2 months ago, sole was banning all kimp's accounts and telling him not to make any more. now, his projects are posted on the news page? odd

Kimp has been doing this again a lot lately. He would join an RA game that Bam and I were playing the other day, strafing around as though he was going to play and then he'd type kill a second before the match started. Annoying as hell.

EI, I'm going to go blog about this.

Kinda ironic coming from a guy who has a banned counter on his signature...

This is puzzle. Kimp is helping the Quake community by reviving DM and even holding a tournament, but he has also terrorized the community. It seems though Kimp's behavior has gotten a lot better than since he first started, has it not? Without doubt he still does annoying things, yet most of the time he contributes by starting up DM games and playing/acting decent.

But, we could also ban him like Baker said "whitelist" him as soon as that comes available.

There's a number of reasons to ban Kimp, but there's also a number of reasons not to ban him.

Should all the available Quakeone players take a vote?

You know, really this isn't a problem about what Player X or Player Y does but that there isn't presently a way to effective deal with it.

That's what the problem is. The solution is build more features into the server.
