I'm closing this thread too.

Kimp just flat out isn't going to be unbanned. First, the community voted to ban him and it wasn't a close vote.

Second, anyone requiring someone like Avalanche who hosts Quake servers for the community to waste his time for someone is making an active effort to ruin things for other players shouldn't be allowed on any servers or this forum.

Splinter, that's all great. However, I don't view online associations as a way to save people's souls. I'm just trying to enjoy myself in a game. He ruins that, for a lot of people.

ok, jpl is a well respected guy round here, and never shoots off too early at the mouth, not one of those type of guys.. ok, thats good.. But, he has taken the word of most ppL around here to better understand a situation which he will not experience, him being a single player type dude, and kimp being banned.

Its one of those situations... when 10 ppL start to say the same thing about a guy, it's most likely more often than not, true...

My apologies. I don’t mean to come across as a dark cloud. I do really have a loving heart, and genuine human compassion. It does pain me to witness a sudden reservation where there wasn’t one before…particularly when there is little interest in the subject.

I have this intuition about Kimp…and it is a little bothersome to watch these antics. I believe Kimp (can/will) have a turnaround where he will be more appreciated. I think he makes a better friend than foe.

I know I am looking like a nut… but I will hold my own till Kimp shows me he can’t be salvaged. He has a lot to prove… a road to travel… but, he will prove that he is much more than his image lets on. A clever person, a little reserved, but very much all together.

Like I said before… he is a victim, like everyone else here. These little nudges aren’t healing any wounds. We are all capable of getting along.

Nevermind, if the majority of the people here think kimp is a moron, then there are certainly good reasons for

The bannable reasons for the forums: are He name spoofs the forums, to gain privileged information, then elude's the ban's using several different methods.

Other bannable offences are from server games: such as Botting, spamming locations of players during match games, multiple connects, several people claim that he ran exploits on servers and on them. I have only seen proof of the botting.

JPL is from France is a member of the single player mapping community. He doesn't play NetQuake online.

He also happens to be one of the most elite mappers ever and the author of at least one of the maps on the RQuake coop server.

You have to come to your own conclusion with your own interaction as to figure out what the issue is.

if by interaction u mean (interaction with kimp) then yes, that helps as to understand the fuckedupness of the situation,,,

because reading the pages upon pages of posts from days gone by really wont help, it would seems like a hate parade on kimp... (most who posted had some interaction tho btw).. about 90% of us have come to the same conclusion..
and now, it's probably about high time we just ignored the dude, if we stop hearing from him..
afterall, keeping stuff in your heart is good, keeping stuff on your mind aint healthy...

I don't think it an be summarized easily. You have to come to your own conclusion with your own interaction as to figure out what the issue is.

Someone who takes advantages of the weaknesses in Quake to ruin games. He's botted before. But probably worse he connects to servers where team games are being setup and interferes with player selection. And causes problems on servers that have essentially no administration and therefore no way to ban or kick him.

And has used a 1 second ability to talk even if banned in older server exes to spam text on servers he is banned on. And on banned servers, he has used proxies to connect.

He's not the first person to do this, of course.

But he is someone bringing to the forefront how these kind of things need to be fixed.

Anyone could do this kind of thing.
