Everything is taken care of, all of the maps that were given to me were retested by myself, Cortex, ORL, Peg and Polarite. Darkplaces can be a very demanding engine when it's set up to be. Check your (his) settings and make sure you're not taxing the system too hard. Specifically, you might want to check and see if RT lighting is on, that's a real framerate killer.
I remember darkplaces would lag like that for me on some servers... no matter what graphical settings I ran it on. I could have it set up where it would run at a solid 60fps even on the typical grandma machine, and it would handle the net lag like I was getting bad FPS. There's a command to change that and make it handle lag normally, but I don't remember what it is.
Ah, I remember having a thread about it, I dug it up for you. Try setting cl_nettimesyncmode 1 and see if it still does it. If not, it's probably FPS lag like I said before.
When was the last time he tried connecting? I had a hard drive take a shit on me recently, so I was re-downloading a ton of stuff I lost when that drive died, and I wasn't restricting the bandwidth the torrent program was using because I wanted it all back as quickly as possible.Last edited by foq; 08-13-2010, 07:31 AM.

that's ok, that flanders rquake co-op server works pretty good for me, i typed in that fvf server address like u recently posted, seems to not disappear anymore (but remember i'm using a very old version of gamespy). i'm trying to get my brother back into fvf, he has windows7 and uses darkplaces and when he connects, he gets this horrible lag type of effect, like bad framerate real choppy, we can't figure out why it does that, know anything about that?Originally posted by the_f0qer View PostI quit hosting my Rquake server when Kong started his up and the powers that be switched the Rquake slot on the Quakeone Server Browser over to his (doesn't make much sense to host a server that isn't even going to be seen by 90% of the Quake community).
