I still stand by my statement that master splinter is kimp... and I highly doubt kimp is any type of decent programmer. Nothing a bunch of tutorials can be used to add that useless information.

I also like how you contsantly compare the quake community to hitler or the KKK. We do not like kimp because he is an dick. Nothing more or less than that. To this day he still tries to get around my bans on my server.

Again... still nothing you know about, just out dated info your holding on to because it's all you got. Your threatened by abode... you are no longer the programming star you use to be... a new talent has entered the arena with more will than your own... and he is very dedicated to his purpose.

You should rethink this statement. Maybe do a little research and look at all the things baker has done to/for quake. I can't think of anyone other than Baker who is more dedicated to the cause. Between living his life and going to work, he does his best to develop engines, tools, and moderate these forums as well as the runequake forums, doing what he can to answer questions and help players get set-up or troubleshoot a problem.

I'm not picking on Kimp directly with this statement, but I'll be honest. The only other players I've seen that are more dedicated than baker are cheaters. They develop engines and tools that they can use to their advantage. And after 14 years of a near dead game, they still persist.

I don't like DM3, CTF or team deathmatch or the spam that RuneQuake has turned into.

I like FFA deathmatch, CA on custom maps and Rocket Arena. I also like classic Rune Quake without free hook or the newbie runes or gas grenade spam.

So I'm like a hardcore Quake player without a server.

Needless to say, I hope that in the future the kind of stuff I like to play makes a comeback and I'm patient enough to believe it will happen eventually.

That doesn't mean I don't understand the aggravation of the Kimp problem, I've been the recipient of a few fucked up games that could have been great by a non-Kimp perpetrator.

I'm like you. I like the hardcore stuff.. I was in one of the best CTF clans in the late 90's and could never get into it... But i love the ffa dm, RA, and CA. I also like Team DM though. i recently played on the EURO ffa dm server and it was great. I played until i couldn't figure out how to download one of the maps while Peg secretly laughed at me for being so dumb. I was pinging 200 and still enjoyed it. If we had a server like the bigfoot server in US i'd play it regularly. FFA DM with custom map rotation.

I have seen Baker there on the odd occassion but I'm sure he would always be welcome back. He can show peg how it's done

Although we do turn on the runes this is more the rare exception than the rule (unless Peg had changed this) so it's pretty much DM FFA on custom maps all the way. so if this is your sort of thing then drop by, and say hello and take on that newb Polarite

The bigfoot server really is the style I like, but with 150 ping it isn't very forgiving if you make a mistake

The community is being offered a free ride, and your slapping it off the table. Your using your popularity/fandom as a tool for hateful influence...and at the same time, pretending you have no stake in the person you are damming. Mr. Quake Czar. You make one hell of a role model

I don't hate Kimp. I'm not fond of the idea of someone who puts a lot of effort into ruining games for other people.

If you use proquake400 or qrack1.90 (or above) all you need to do is set a few cvars in your autoexec.cfg:

cl_web_download 1
cl_web_download_url "bigfoot.quake1.net/"

Alternatively you could let the server set these cvars for you by saying (yes in messagemode):

!getmap -proqrack

^^This works on bigfoot.quake1.net:26000 and flanders.servegame.org:26000

Keep in mind tho, that auto-download will only work on all servers that run the same maps (or a subset there of) as the EuroQuake server (at least, until the quakeone.com maps depot gets sorted which should have all the maps on all servers, for it to be fool proof).

Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I'm not a great player (although when I get a good streak, I think I can compete) so I feel drawn toward playing the waiting game. Stock up and run away from the pent/quad guy and wait for my chance, hehe

Then when it finally comes to a meeting... I'm as trigger happy as anyone. I usually get owned though, if not it's only because I have RA, Mega and enough rockets to make up for my lousy aim. How some people can have this unreal shaft is beyond me.

I'm no match for good players - so I like to run away and only fight when I'm buffed, in order to last a little longer. Haha! I wouldn't survive any rocket arena match.
