Answer = unknown. If kimp is actively fucking up games on servers, you should make it a point to communicate it on the forums. This may or may not have any effect on his forum status.

Personally, I am skeptical that someone with a history of causing problems will reform so quickly. But the world is about change, so who knows.

At the same time, it is clear that if kimp chooses to, he does have contributions to make to Quake. He likes to create touraments and knows at least some of the fundamentals of QuakeC and engine coding.

This may be perceived as a not quite optimistic view, but everyone knows I'm not closed minded either ...

His behavior in game hasn't changed. He'll still join a game and go AFK. Nobody wanted to get two more in order to play a 4v4 last night, so he went AFK for the entire game.

I can confirm wolvs report.. He trys to get us to show up on the server at 9 or 10 so we can have a good TG.. then he ruins it by going afk? I just dont get it..

As of this moment, QuakeOne is a separate entity. QuakeOne has nothing to do with the administration of servers, aside from the fact that server admins may frequent the forums. As Frenzy said:

However as was discussed in all of old kimp related threads, if you are going to be detrimental to the enjoyment of Quake (botting, hacking, etc. are just some examples) they why should you be allowed on the forums here? If the purpose of the forums is a meeting place for the Quake community, and someone who ruins the community via in-game actions, they that someone should probably not be allowed on the forums.

I anticipate, when the time comes, you will make an official announcement upon changes of methods in administration?

Whereas Kimp's role in this community has been pretty niche and consistent... I would like to suggest promoting him to Game Organizer instead of Axe Man (or whatever it might be). This will buy him wiggle room in the community to be AFK on servers as he swaps in and out to recruit players to join games... via IM and other means outside the Quake client.

Sorry F-7, I can't attest to your experience. In my experience, he might be recruiting a 3v3 and a 2v2 starts without him... and then he comes back with another person, enables "join team game" and gets the 3v3 going.

He will often allow others to join in on a game to include everyone.

Mastersplinter should write books or be in charge of press releases or marketing materials for a major corporation.

Some of Splinter's posts are higher-level entertainment in almost artfully hilarious ways.

Even though some of the concepts he comes up with are preposterous, we should all feel fortunate to have this kind of wit and artistic thinking in the forum.

You could call some of his posts "spin" or retconning (artfully recasting all past events into an alternate explanation) but what makes them so great is he builds them with little building blocks creating a giant cobweb of an alternative way to view events. And does it masterfully.
