Personally, I am skeptical that someone with a history of causing problems will reform so quickly. But the world is about change, so who knows.
At the same time, it is clear that if kimp chooses to, he does have contributions to make to Quake. He likes to create touraments and knows at least some of the fundamentals of QuakeC and engine coding.
This may be perceived as a not quite optimistic view, but everyone knows I'm not closed minded either ...Last edited by Baker; 04-16-2010, 12:23 AM.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. Solecord,
I am interested in your opinion regarding the unity and relationships between game-servers verses forums. In the past, there has been discussions about the perception of both being one or separate entities.
Is QuakeOne.com venturing to administrate the community game-servers, or will administration be assumed by the respective SysOps?

Originally posted by FrenzyQuake servers are ran/owned/operated by private parties, the QuakeOne.Com website is the meeting grounds for this community.
However as was discussed in all of old kimp related threads, if you are going to be detrimental to the enjoyment of Quake (botting, hacking, etc. are just some examples) they why should you be allowed on the forums here? If the purpose of the forums is a meeting place for the Quake community, and someone who ruins the community via in-game actions, they that someone should probably not be allowed on the forums.

Whereas Kimp's role in this community has been pretty niche and consistent... I would like to suggest promoting him to Game Organizer instead of Axe Man (or whatever it might be). This will buy him wiggle room in the community to be AFK on servers as he swaps in and out to recruit players to join games... via IM and other means outside the Quake client.

There is no wiggle room for kimp.. Why would he go AFK to recruit more players to play when the game has already started? thats just pointless.
Splinter you know kimp is a fuckwad in the games so i really dont understand why you defend him when he goes AFK during a TG..

He will often allow others to join in on a game to include everyone.

Some of Splinter's posts are higher-level entertainment in almost artfully hilarious ways.
Even though some of the concepts he comes up with are preposterous, we should all feel fortunate to have this kind of wit and artistic thinking in the forum.
You could call some of his posts "spin" or retconning (artfully recasting all past events into an alternate explanation) but what makes them so great is he builds them with little building blocks creating a giant cobweb of an alternative way to view events. And does it masterfully.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
