The full version can be bought from steam for $9.99. They also have a package with q2 and q3 plus all the expansions for $30 -
You can get Shareware Quake from ID's website: id Software, but this is the only version of Quake that you can legally download without having to pay for it. Nobody is going to tell you how to get an illegal version.
