the thing i hate about quake1 is the people that complain about it, to me its solid. I do agree the monster ai update,to make it more of a challenge in single player or coop etc. The graphics can be as basic as they can get for my taste, im not big on bells and whistles thats just a personal preference.

Yea, crouch , prone...and always RUN. I'd like to see Quake 1 booted up in a Q3 engine where you have these, plus the sprint option to make the Quake guy more close to human. Also some more things like the guy falling down when hit or jumping off something too high. Alot of these things would probably slow down the current Fragging, but would make it more realstic, and add more strategy to combat.

As stated before crouch would of been nice. However in the default maps - there wasn't much of a purpose from possibly dodging purposes. It should of been added still - for "extra".
Gibbing corpses (also stated previously) is needed and SO easy to add too.
However one thing recently came to mind when working on my mini-mod and it's the "Missile Ammo" and Nailguns.
They share the same ammo (missile) - however the Grenade and Rockers look COMPLETELY different. Been thinking of making the Grenades and Rockets looking the same, but the Grenades will lose their "tail"
Then the Nailguns - SuperNailgun takes 2 shots away each. However only fires one nail. I am thinking for my mod I will fix that. It will make it the same overall. Except each shot will fire 2 individual nails very close together so it's like:

So in use it will be the same AND do the same amount of damage. Just you'd see 2 nails flying instead of just 1.

I was always somewhat bothered at the fact that the grenade launcher and rocket launcher used the same ammo...e|------------------------0---------------

I think it's fine they use the same ammo and all, it's just always bugged me how their projectile GREATLY differ from one another and the ammo you pick up shows rockets. It's like the rocket magically transforms when it's loaded into the Grenade launcher.
I think I might remodel the rocket and grenade to be the same - the Grenade however will be "transformed" ("fins" folded ect). So it gives off the effect that it's still the rocket.
