        • HI.

          I'm going to bore you.

I'm possibly more older than the old school quaker. I started out on MPlayer in 1996 til it died in around 98. There I won first place in several tournaments where I won a lot of neat incintives and cash prizes. I also played a lot of foreign mods, such as QBall, and Mission Pack 1 & 2. I met a lot of great friends and enrolled in many clans that have now moved on to other things.

I took a break from MPlayer from the wackos and 12 year old kids, I played old school DM, and my favorite, Clan Arena where it was tough to get into a server. My favorite one was kitty1.standford.edu. I achieved greater skill in team work, over all skill and returned to MPlayer til it shut down.

After MPlayer, I lurked around NetQuake for a while where I played Clan Arena, CTF, with just the 4 basic runes. Then I wanted something more extreme and competitive, I then played Team Fortress for a few years. It was a lot of fun, but I tend to get bored with things.

I took a break from Quake since I've played it for so long, but it wasn't too long when I decided to log on and I entered a whole new world, far more different from just the simple ham and cheese sandwich.

My first server in years, old deadzone, I played there and was way too dominant, it was then Diazoild and Ben had banned me from that server. I found out there were other servers and one of them happened to be Beatdown, where I stumbled upon a new side of quake. I was amazed the changes and the different runes. I had no idea what I was getting into, I met Dolemite, Lefty, IEEE, I Hate Humans, and others that I thought were Quake Gods, they sure stomped a mudhole in me on a daily basis, but that didn't last too long. =)

Several months at BDA went by I met a player name Hydro, equal skill to mine. I can still remember every Monday nights we would 1 on 1 til we can no longer stay awake, possibly the best matches I've had since I returned to Quake, the last place you would want to be is in the same map where Hydro and I fought endlessly, moving on..

Beatdown got shutdown, so I left quake, but don't worry I came back. I returned to Widomaker, I wasn't too happy about the hook whor'age going on, but I wasnt too picky, I enjoyed air shafting. That point on.. I met wonderful people and the greatest community in my 10+ years of playing. I remember when it ran 3 servers, Widomaker, Singed and TotalQuake.

TotalQuake turned to Beatdown and Widomaker and SINGED were TLTQ affiliated. It was then where I hosted 3 tournaments, with the Average Joe Tournament (Average Players only) was by far the best one I've ran. I also enjoyed the new mods I've never played before such as Slide and Head Hunters.

As we all know, TLTQ fell apart, as so did I. TLTQ was a 2nd home for me, so I wondered off on my own. I tried to make others a place to enjoy good play, and to meet new friends, but most still held a grudge against TLTQ players, I then decided to wonder off on my own and keep a low profile, and 'til this day, I remain to do so. I play Quake part time, I feel I have played enough and done enough, when I do, I just perfer to play the game and ignore others, most of the chat material in the games consist of calling me or others bots, so I have "Con_notifytime 0" in my autoexec, so I apologize if I didn't answer to any of you who reconized me with my IP.

There's nothing else more I can think of, those who know me too well knows I'm not a bragger, but just about anyone you have feared, came face to face with, called the greatest, I have played and beaten them all.. I'm not going to lie, I have been fragged, beatened, raped, owned and just about any other name that is affiliated with defeated, I've been it more than many , but I've also proved my dominance back many times. Want proof ? If you ever see I Hate Humans crawling around, ask him for a demo, he will provide you with hundreds of myself.

I have missed more than thousands of times and lost games on many occasions, but it is failure that has gotten me to where I am today.

Most of my greatest opponants can tell you I am a bitch to kill. I don't notice it, but most say I have the weridest playing style. Some of my hints is I provide my old OLD school ground close-medium range style and bind it with the new fast pace people use today. I am mostly a defensive rune, offensive style player, hard to explain, but I'm sure you will understand if 5 of your rockets don't kill me and I'm still pounding away. I also tend to adjust my style with my opponants style to counter it.. moving on

Today, I am still hiding around, but I just perfer play. No offense to anyone, but I just don't like what the game has became today compared to what it was 10 years ago. The modifcations, hook style plays, engine tweaks, +SAttacks, and other crazy modified configurations to make it more smoother are just not me, I'm still using ProQuake and a simple config, but I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. IP logs are not me either, seems people are infatuated with who they are playing or who's in the game rather than .. just playing!

In my 10+ years of Quake, I feel there is nothing more for me to do, I have done it all, played it all and beaten them all. I do enjoy a good free for all and with the RA and CA boys from time to time. It is good to see this game to reform again. I will see you all on the server.

          Chow..

          • I'm glad you found your way here z0r. Many of us had not seen you in quite some time (9 months to a year) and wondered where you were.

Those tournaments you ran were some of the best/most fun events.

*cough* says the guy who has written very sophisticated dual weapon scripts that are equivalent of +sattacks */cough*

*cough* ... to z0r who was a regular at Beatdown Alley since 2002 and later an admin there, which has more runes than any server this side of IEEE 802.11 and a free hook. */cough*

Fact is, Artifact-RJS (the precursor to RuneQuake) has had +sattacks since 1999 or earlier .. which can easily be written in scripts ... and only exist to give normal players the chance to play on a level playing field with the experts who write scripts like Canadian*Sniper.

For the unknowning, an +sattack is like +sattack6 which throws a quick grenade. It is used like such BIND X +SATTACK6 and allows newbies to have the same functionality as an expert. There is no need for such a command, as an expert already has something like the following in their config:

                alias +grenade "-attack;wait;impulse 6;wait;+attack"
                alias -grenade "-attack;wait;impulse 7"

bind h +grenade //throw grenade and switch back to RL
Almost all expert players have a quick grenade script like the above and these have been commonplace since 1996 when Quake came out. The +sattack6 command available on many servers lets novice players have the same functionality without reading a ton of Quake manuals.

My Dual Weapon config is just a bunch of aliases and binds. Completely legitimate and doesn't require any mods

agreed. Phenom should scratch the whole mod idea, it's causing him enough grief

                      • Hey fellow Quakers, glad to see you here. Let me introduce myself.

My name's Adam, been playing Q1 since 97 or so, I've stuck with it pretty good since then, my longest break from Q1 was probably less than a year. That's because I love the game, it never seems to get old. I joined Clan Devo not long after I really got into Quake. Devo was a CTF clan who's home was Trinicom. Had lots of fun playing CTF at Trini and the Insync ctf server. I also played Runequake at Duracell fairly often. Played quake on a 28k modem for about the first 2 1/2 years, and wasn't very good, but still had fun none the less. When I got Cable i started getting into Clan Arena, and it was really good practice for me, which I needed a lot of. I still need a lot of practice come to think of it, heh. I get rusty real fast if i don't keep up with Quake often.

Currently I still play CA and Runequake, getting into Rocket Arena a little bit here and there as well now. I go wherever people are playing basically.

I've had a lot of Quake names in the past, but I'll mention the ones I've used more often:
Adaman44====DEVO - One of my oldest names, used mainly for CTF
Akujin - Name I usually use for CA and RA
                        Teisel - Old Runequake name
                        Ad - Current RQ name

Hope to see you all around the Q1 servers. Long Live !

I remember someone named Teisel, but that was before 97 I'm sure. She was one of the few people I would quake with when I was a newb in 95.

                            • G'day all, I am The Villain.

I started playing Quake on the net back in 1997, and, in my opinion, none of the sequels have been able to come close to matching the sheer brilliance of Quake 1. And that is what has brought me to this site.
As my greeting would suggest, I'm from Sydney, Australia, and would seriously love to see some servers pop up in my neck of the woods.
If there are any other Aussies out there who know of any Aussie servers (I'm mainly interested in NetQuake, not so much QuakeWorld - I can't go back to those graphics after installing Joequake!) still running, or if you're simply interested in having a duel sometime, don't hesitate to contact me!

                              1 Forever!

Welcome back, Quake is a outstanding game.

As much as I am a NetQuake guy, Quakeworld has graphically improved clients as well. Such as EZQuake ( http://ezquake.sourceforge.net/ ).

                                Quakeworld client EZQuake screenshot:

JoeQuake is basically a port of the graphical effects of FuhQuake. EZQuake is based on the FuhQuake source, in the same way the NetQuake client QRack is based on JoeQuake.

                                Regular Quake (NetQuake) QRack screenshot:

Considering you are in Australia and NetQuake servers are few and far between over there, you might give QW a shot.
