    • I'm Jake-Mort... but I use the name Nancy.
I've played Quake since I was very, very, Very young

      It changed me.
To the point that even now at 16 I still play it.
That I even skive PE, in order to sit playing it in the library.
To be honest, I blame Quake as being the reason I wear make-up and womens clothes.

      I'm pretty much a nerd.
Or so it was pointed out to me by my GF.

Other than Quake, I obsess over thief.
      but yeah...

      I'm new, so hii ^-^

        • What's up people! I just got back into this game yesterday after about six years. I used to to play the hell out of it when it was brand new... ahh yes the days of 400 ping. I usually just play my xbox 360 now but since i have been playing this again, and it's addicting as hell, I wont have a controller in my hand for a little while. I'm usually pretty easy to get along with, but some matches can get intense. leave me a message, or i hope to see you guys on sometime.... peace

            Thanks

Thief is really addictive, if you can get into it.
But most modern gamers find the concept of stealth / patience below them.

However I (As with Quake) Grew up playing it.
And is just one of the games that has stuck.

            • Good day, I stumbled upon this site while stumbling around bash.org....hopefully I can get a version of quake to run on my machine as it has been oh, about 8 years since I have played it. Would be fun to see if I can still remember where anything is on the maps heh.

I started playing quake in 97 (when the Mac version came out, bought a 300 dollar VooDoo 1 card to play it with heh) though I was around people who played it a lot in 96 as I was a freshman in college and the only thing anyone did in the 'nerd' dorms at the Univ. of Illinois was play quake.

I played a lot on a handful of servers, usually straight DM with minimal mods. I did play some Artifact Quake when it was new and enjoyed it, but mainly the only mods I played were powered up axes, i.e. the famous superaxe mod that ran on the cmu servers.

Back in the day I played as WarGhoul when I was not 'in disguise', which usually involved me logging out, switching my name to Poolman, and reconnecting to see if I could get to -50 (or in one case -200) frags before the 50 fraglimit would be hit on DM4. I 'hung out' mostly on lpb.ini.cmu.edu and yavin.res.cmu.edu though I would hang out on occassion on 1v1 servers, but I was not very good at that style of play, and thus I stuck to stuff more my speed. I ended up spending a lot of time with the guys in Clan LPB and was sort of an honorary member at the end, but that was mainly out of my near constant presence on the server and my affinity for random conversations with no one in particular in the chat box.

I played quake3 for about 4-5 months in 2002, almost exclusively at dayentech's freezetag servers, but dealing with the chilluns finally got on my nerves. It reminded me what I missed the most about quake in the "old days": because very very few people outside of college had access to any internet connection at all, much less a decent one, the level of maturity on a lot of the public servers seemed to be higher (or maybe it is just that they were the same age group so my constant 80s pop culture references struck a chord heh).

Well, I just wanted to say hello since I saw this nice hello there thread.

Hopefully when I figure out how to play the best multiplayer game in history again I will see some of you around.

              • It's really cool to see quake rolling on 11 years after it first came out.
I'm currently working on a patch for quake called SuperCoop(an old skool progs.dat) which I will release here ASAP.

Bots and tweaked weapons. (nailguns are armour piercing, shotguns are more powerful, and slower.)
                    Cooperative gameplay with respawning monsters,
Deathmatch gameplay, also with respawning monsters.
Pseudo class based teamplay, each player has one light and one heavy-weapon and armour determines speed. (You have to find and pick up weapons, etc as usual.)
Plus various other tweaks and gimmicks

                    • Hi

Im Meatwad, been Playing Quake since 1996 although i forget my orginial Quake name. Im from Southwestern Pennsylvania. I been playing video games since the Atari 5200 days. I remember playing on a Quake Server that had a airgun where you blast your enemy to pieces with air.

Some of my favorite games is the doom series and the descent series.
Used to play Descent on DSL over IPX, which was insane.
Of course now, mainly play Quake, Quake 3, Quake 4, Guild Wars, Doom 3, Half Life 2.

I use Ubutnu 11.04 and Windows 7 on my Computer.

                            • Hey, I just happened to stumble upon this site when I was searching for Quake to reinstall it. The name is oberlin, I've been playing a bit ca some lately at rage.quakeone.com. Haven't played since around 2003-04, so it's a refreshing feeling to have people still playing.

I started playing on mplayer in '98 or so, and I mostly played Qball. Being young and full of myself, I played under probably 15 or so names and aliases. Started playing netquake with zild (who I knew from Qball) and played in a few small time clans. Mostly as on-and-off player. As a netquaker, I played under the alias "chain".

I look forward to ca'ing with the likes of you guys in the future.

Btw, is zild still around at all?
