Hey, folks!

At first: I think my English is not really good, but I will try my best.

I can't remember the exact year I played Quake the first time. I was still a child and I think, I found the Shareware Version of Quake on a Disc with game demos or something like this. I instantly became a fan since I played it the first time and I still play it today.
Mostly the Singeplayer or Mods, I never was really good at the multiplayer mode.

Apart from that, I'm a huge fan of other games, movies and music. I love visiting festivals and live shows and played in a few bands. Currently I'm working on a doom and quake inspired metal project called stroyent.

PS: I'm also a great fan of Doom. It fucking rocks.

and yeah, its funny how extremely heavy quake is now in darkplaces with all these advanced effects. even my comp has trouble maintaining a framerate above 30 at some moments, and i have a core i7 950 3.2ghz, a gtx580 and 12GB ram

so yeah, if this was released back in 96 when quake came out even the strongest comp back then would have choked trying to run it. or most likely fried even trying to start it

If only I could get Darkplaces + Crossfire working, alas, LH continues to not be availible on IRC. I shall bling blong him right now

Glad to be here. Started playing the game in '96 and haven't quit playing it since. Even after all those years of playing, I'm STILL not very good. I took some "breaks" here and there, but never abandoned the game completely. I use this site quite often but was too lazy to sign up. Looking forward to hanging out on the forums.

Hello Folks..... My name is Dave as many of you would know and many of you may not. I just recently came back to playing Quake 1 this week but played for many many years and am delighted to see that there is actually still some activity on servers. Been seeing many familiar faces like lenny and kt which is awesome. I played Quake from the start since I was 11 and had several stints in other games as well such as Q3, Q4, CS etc. Since I've had so many names and played in all of the mods, I'll post my aliases and stuff in case anyone here knows me.

Played a lot of CTF too.... 3wave is absolutely the shit... would love to 2v2 cheat2 or RA or something sometime if ppl still play!

Hi ya. Another to the site.
Started Quake when it came out. I actually bought my first computer just to play it. Computers are now my life because of it. First found the game at a game center back in 96 and haven't stopped playing FPS since.
I even made a mod or two back in the day and ran two game centers myself. Some of the best fun I have had is with things like killerquake and pk and rocket arena. God I miss those days.
I am thinking about trying out some of these new engines and haven't specifically picked one out yet. I have tried Dark Places but it always give me the error of missing zlib1.dll file. The game will play once I hit Ok, but it is kind of annoying having to do that every time I start the game.

Adekis. Weird story, I had only vague knowledge of Quake until I saw it in Goodwill for two bucks yesterday. I'd heard it was supposed to be good, so I bought it and Quake II as well. The only problem is it doesn't work in the slightest, so I joined the community that seemed most likely to be able to help me figure out how to run the game, and who knows? I might even stick around, this place seems pretty darn cool.

hey just saw this site and had to join up on clan arena.. was pretty fun but i suck really bad now haha.. its been YEARS...im using the 'epsilon' build (Quake "Epsilon" Build mod - Mod DB)

anyway my weap sticks out further than i remember and rocket flashes were kinda blinding.. anyone know how to change those things? i cant remember any commands
maybe someone wants to stickie a quick guide for returning players or add it to the existing guides post?
