Hi hi.

Just thought I'd let everyone know a friend told me about this place and I decided to join. The first time I played Quake was with my older brother on the N64. I since picked up the computer version two or so years ago and I got Toetag a few days ago and am trying my hand at mapping =P

Hi, most of you active members have probably already seen my thread but I thought I'd just drop an introduction in here.

I used to play Quake back when it was released and I always go back to it every couple of years, the atmosphere and aesthetic still do it for me

My most memorable experiences of Quake are of playing through the single player in Coop with my little brother using every different mod we could find. We also spent a lot of time playing Quake Slide!

Back then I toyed with modding but I didn't really get anywhere, but now I have a good few years of experience in 2d and 3d art, animation and coding so I decided I'd have another crack at it!

I was going to get straight on with making a mod but after playing it for a bit I decided I'd really like to improve the models a bit, probably the weakest part of the graphics in my opinion. I'm now working hard on creating a makeover pack that retains the original look of Quake but smooths out a lot of the rough edges. The thread is in the work in progress section, think of it as my love letter to one of my favourite games.

Hello all,
I first played Quake 1 on MPlayer, and co-founded 'Clan Necrose' along with NEC-Wraith, during the mplayer tdm ladder tournaments.

Just played Quake 1 for the first time since the late 90's, and I am hooked again, glad to see people are still playing it

Also, I play Quake 4 fairly often. I am on xfire as deadxcenter

Ya I contacted the webmaster about it and told me the same thing. Somehow I did not get the memo.

I joined for 2 reasons:

1. I thought it would be fun to join to be part of the community.

2. I was looking for some help about bugs DoE with darkplaces. It seems that DoE has some problems as it seems. I hope lordhavoc would have his next engine line-up will be bug-free.

hi im new here... um i was in a developing team making a big title i had a strike with one of the members so i entered out. i joined here to show my work on quake games and maybe some progress on my game as i work alone now. and im a part of ESL... nothing much to say though :/

Zaric/Zhakaron here. I played Quake Deathmatch back when it came out. Started at a Lan Center (that no longer exists). Moved onward to Threewave CTF and Team Fortress 1 on my horrible dialup connection trying my best against the LPBs of the era. In terms of Deathmatch I frequented Happy Penguin's 128.95.25.94 and 183 that to my knowledge are gone now.

Was into Future vs Fantasy and the planetquake Rocket Arena server (prior to it becoming a mod, when it was just a server with admin enforced rules).

I was very active in the Thunder-Walker mod: Starwars CTF and founded one of the three primary clans it had; the clan eventually reformed into Dark Whores of the Sith about the time I ended up leaving but I used to pop in now and again before it eventually vanished.

My fondest memories were of the Fortress Fest era playing Rock1.

My skills have greatly deteriorated over the years, what with a real life, marriage, and playing MMORPGs with the wife, that said, lately I've been hopping back into Quake from time to time, it's what I grew up on. I've been archiving what I remember about it on Zhakaron.com but at some point in a few months I'd very much like to record some online games for youtube.
