my re-introduction. I think my profile went dormant. and I can't seem to edit my profile. hopefully this will make things right again, as that I have started playing Quake Live for my DM fix and I'm redownloading the best, or in process of the best MAC OSX Quake 1 experience. so far I have Darkplaces and the Epsilion mod. but epsilion takes too damn long load. but it looks pretty so i am trying out different texture packs and tricks to make DP look nice and run well. as that I do have an older mac mini. I still have my original Quake 1 Disc along with the Quake Mission Packs. cheers!

I remember buying Quake and installing it on my computer and a friends computer. We would do a modem to modem game. SO LAGGY. When quakeworld got popular we would use Quakespy (Later became gamespy) to join in on games. I played a TON of Team Fortress mod. I was ok at DM's but my bread and butter was the TF mod. I wonder if anyone ever plays TF on quake anymore. I haven't been able to find any. Anyway, I am back in the saddle again it seems. IS there a gameplay schedule everyone meets up on? I'd like to get my ass kicked one of these days.

Hey all, the name is Dutch. Having gotten back into Quake, I hope to get pretty involved around here. The website isn't new to me, but I had yet to register up until now.
My old man started playing Quake a couple years after it came out. He's not much of a gamer, so I knew it had to be pretty good to get him hyped up. (I'm not much of a gamer these days either, but Quake keeps me coming back for more even to this day). I was mostly involved in the Single Player side of the game, but the few times that I did rock out on Multiplayer I loved it. To this day it remains the best game ever programmed IMHO.
I started mapping for Quake around 2000 using Qoole 2.50. I know everyone bags on Qoole because of it's floating point problems, but you sure learn how to map some creative environments when the only angles you can get away with are 45s and 90s. I didn't know any better starting out, so I got used to the user-interface of the program and still cannot get used to better programs such as WorldCraft and Radiant (TrenchBroom also looks to be like a great program to use, but my PC doesn't agree with it for whatever reason). I am trying to switch over to WorldCraft, but I have to say I still love Qoole, maybe because that's where it all began for me. As for now, I've just entered the modding scene.
I am currently working on a decent-sized mod that maintains the best features of Quake and improves the not-so-great features. The project is well under way. I understand many will scoff at me right now, claiming they've "heard that a hundred times." I don't blame you. Therefore, I won't bore anyone with the details as of now; instead I will let you all know when it's done and you can be the judges yourselves. I've seen some awesome mods in the last couple months (understand that I put Quake on the shelf for several years and never explored mods before-hand...this is all pretty new to me) and became hell-bent on making my own. QuakeC and modelling have been a helluva learning process but I quickly came to love them.
Anyways, just thought I'd throw my name out there and say hello. Rock on, Quakers.

Hey all, my real name is Dave and someone may remember Quazar from long ago which was my quake alias up until I stopped playing around 2005 or 6. I started playing quake in middle school (I'm now 29), I played tons let me tell you. I started playing CTF on my 56k modem and would ping in the 200's and rocked an all keyboard setup , it wasn't until about a year later that I started using the mouse +mlook 1 anyone? I was sort of a part of various clans over the years but generally stayed independent, I always wanted to be in the clanberries as they were located in the Milwaukee area where I was from (I'm now in Philadelphia) and I met up with a few of them once or twice actually. I got really really into clan arena, which is by far still my favorite of any game that's ever been made... although urban terror for q3 is a close second. The community of people playing CA was what made it what it was, and the competitive pressure
Look forward to seeing some of the old folks around, 'round of gibs on me!

Hi, I'm ArrrCee.
I used to play Quake constantly for a few years and have recently rediscovered it. I realized how much I like it and how much I miss it. So I went searching see if anyone is still playing and it turns out there are still tons of great people playing and making maps!
I discovered Quake on one of those id software shareware discs that a friend had and we found out how to unlock it (I know, we're awful) and we played it for a pretty long time.
I used plenty of different nicknames because none of them ever really stuck, but I mostly played Team Fortress. I wasn't great at TF but for some reason I could never get enough of it.
I still remember not having enough megs of ram to play the game at first because I think it required 4 megs? I believe we only had 2 so I had to wait to install it but I knew I would like it as I loved Doom at the time.
Anyway, I could go on and on but I just wanted to introduce myself and say hey. Oh and I am slowly digging through and playing old single player quake custom maps on my youtube channel: gamegrave.tv if you're interested.

But what region are you in? Could arrange some casual games some time if you can connect to Euro servers without having ping issues.
And please tell me Purple Vodka is a real drink. I was V0dkaUK for several years because of my love of vodka. :3twitch
