          • I'm no stranger to the Doom/Quake/Id community, but lately I've been restless and wanted to get more involved with bringing people together for DM and testing. I've made a bunch of maps for quake 3 and I'm now branching out into Doom mapping, currently working on a huge set of levels for Doom 2.

Someday soon here I'm going to circle back around to quake 1 mapping

              Hello!

I figured I should properly post here before taking advantage of the wealth of information this place provides!

My first experience with Quake was the N64 version funny enough! Loved the game, and once I got my own PC I played the superior version in all of its glory. Just recently came back to Quake and was interested in mapping. Discovered Trenchbroom, this site, and began doing thorough research on all things mapping. Quake one is one of my favorite single player games out there and I am touched to see a thriving community for it!

Fun fact: When I was 13 I had the hobby of making maps in Serious Sam!

                  • Howdy Quakeone Folk,

I've been playing Quake since the first one at a way older friend's house not too long after it was released. My nickname was actually born in Quake III Arena since I had a strong affinity for gore, death metal and replacing C's with K's thanks to Mortal Kombat. Looking forward to having amazing discussions with the rest of yah's.

                        • I am Ubiquitous. I started playing Quake upon its release as Shareware (at least, as soon as the file showed up on a magazine Cover Disc—we paid for Internet by the minute in the UK back then so no big downloads). Eventually bought the full big box version and always had a soft spot for it and its two immediate sequels, Q2 and Q3.

I played a little Q1 online via Quakespy, which would later become Gamespy. But moved onto Quake 3, which I consider to be the purest expression of gaming as an interactive medium by far.

I dabbled a bit in Q1, Q2, and Q3 mapping, but got more involved in mapping starting with Half Life and Half-Life 2.

Recently, I bough the complete Quake Bundle in a sale to save digging out my old CD, and my love for the game has been rekindled. Additionally, I have discovered that glquake has given way to Quakespasm, Worldcraft to TrenchBroom, and the entire community seems to be undergoing a tremendous renaissance. What a wonderful testament to the game that such vitality remains 20 years on. I, too, am rediscovering the joy of mapping within the relatively simple constraints of the Quake 1 engine, and hope to have something to share soon.

                          • Hello everyone
I've been playing Quake and other IdSoftware games since I was kid. I like to play FPS and strategy games, also to mod them. Now I'm student and programming/3d modelling for work and fun. Would like to make one day something really cool and interesting for me and people

Not sure if i did this but,

I started playing Quake I after about a year it was on the market.
Then stopped for about 5+ years (work, change of job, life, etc)

Davers aka Dave from Ontario Canada
quake.shmack.net i do play some ctf from time to time.
I would prefer a rune ctf server to make it more interesting.

Good to see the old game still alive.
