  • Oh em GEE
Not sure if this thread is even alive but thought I'd introduce myself.
I first played back in 1996? I forget but my boyfriend introduced me. Whenever I would go over to his house i would kick him off the computer and play. I havent played since q3 died out. I did some searches tonight and found out there was this.. underground.. community who still played? am I right? Wishful thinking?
anyways.. I started out playing on Mplayer BACK in the days and played a little on the net too. aww memories..
I LOVE CTF, DM and FFA. I really do miss Mega TF

    • This thread is alive and well. Welcome back to quake!

quake.shmack.net is a server I play on a lot. Its a runequake server, so if you're into runequake, I'll see you around there.

We're nothing special just a bunch of old relics sitting around complaining about newer/better games while trying to justify why we think this old out-dated game with not-so-spiffy netcode is still top dog even though this dog has died, decayed, been eatn by the worms and turned into fertile soil for the daises.

Quake is best because of... because oooff.... because..... uhhh... the game play!

I don't play Quake but a small handful times a year btw. If you wanted a gangsta Quake life you're about 10 years to late to the party!

Still I'm sure you could find a nice DeathMatch server with a few players on most the time and Shmack (RuneQuake *Shudder*) still has players...

I heard single player Quake is still pretty pops tho with a lot of love and support for whatever you want to get into. Seek and ye shall find.

Yeahup, good old fashioned single player, no internet required.

There are a lot of different servers running different mods but only a small handful of those servers get game time from players.

You definitely find a decent FFA server but finding someone to play with is a different story. You're best bet is to join a server and wait a bit to see if anyone joins.

                RuneQuake = Left Socialism.

                Clan Arena = Democratism

                Deathmatch (crmod) = Stalinist.

                • I figured I'd post the obligatory "introduction" post here.

I am Galyo Windsor and I'm from the Netherlands. I grew up playing the Doom and Quake games a lot, but the first Quake still remains an old favorite. I never had an internet-connection, so I was completely oblivious to the multiplayer side of things, but the singleplayer "campaign" had me hooked with its creepy Lovecraftian atmosphere and freaky enemy designs.

                      • OK.
                        I am Voros.
I came from Doomworld (which is also Voros).
                        I love the SCP Foundation.
I'm actually a Doomer, but I also have a soft spot for Quake.
Ironically, I never finished Doom but I finished Quake.
Sole purpose: Getting to know Quake better than ever.

                          • Fortunately, I know how to run these clients and mods (but I like SuperDuper Quake for the crazyness)

                            Oh.

Site seems pretty quiet here though...

                              • LTC Pain here. Thinking about getting back into the Quake gaming world. Still trying to find out if I played Quake 1 or 2 back in early 2000.
